My son has a habit of hiding things away (putting away in a safe place), but then forgetting where he has put it.

It is never where he thinks he had it last.

Could the ipod have been put away with a pile of clothes?

I have found it:T:T:T the Ipod has been found:D:D:D see if you can see the logic in this..;) DS has an old last term school bag, he also has a brand new one for this term, whilst he was packing for school tomorrow he got out the old one and put his Ipod in the 'secret, hidden' velcro pouch pocket , the new one does not have this massively important pocket:rotfl: so it turns out of habit he put his Ipod in said old school bag pocket and then proceeded to put all his new pens and books etc in the new school bag:eek:

Amazing, thank you to each and every one of you for coming up with such brilliant ideas of where it could be, life would have been so simple if when we kept asking him' have you put it in your school bag'? and he kept emptying it to show us we should have included the words 'did you put it in your old school bag that you no longer use or need'?:D

Oh and ali I do hope you find your dress;)

My son lost his ipod in the house a few years ago. I did have a few other children in the house at the time and could never rule out 100% that one of them hadn't taken it.

We weren't sure where in the house it had been lost, so went through every drawer, cupboard, wardrobe, couch, bed (and every other place we could think of), initially as a quick check, and then with a fine tooth comb (probably the last time I did a proper spring clean) and we gave up after about 12 days.

On Day 16, it just appeared on the floor beneath my son's high rise bed .... and we had searched all around the bed ????????????????????????
  • I had a silver fairy charm on a necklace and I dropped it in the middle of the lounge. I heard it bounce but it was gone.

It completely disappeared. We searched for hours, the old tights over the vacuum trick etc, but gave up. I decided it must have somehow fallen under a fitted carpet and slipped under the floor boards (unlikely as it was nearly an inch long).

A couple of years later something caught my eye sitting in the middle of the same room and it was the original charm!

There was no way it had been sitting there all along. Firstly, I vacuum every day (that room only, not the whole house!). Secondly it's a plain red carpet.

I'd done no renovations or anything in the room so where on earth had that charm been hiding for years and years.

I've never really figured it out.
  • This is a really good book for anyone interested in lost things http://www.amazon.co.uk/Place-Called-Here-Cecelia-Ahern/dp/0007198914 I'm not usually that fussed by Cecelian Aherns book, but I loved this.

My husband lost his swimming shorts about a month ago. They were on the line, he brought the washing in and I took it upstairs. Somehow, somewhere they have disappeared and he has turned the house upside down looking for them including looking inside the childrens divan beds. We have all been questioned very seriously about whether we have stolen the shorts, but strangely neither me or my 12 and 14 year old daughters are responsible!

Losing something - even a silly little thing is awful, its always at the back of your mind. I can't begin to imagine, and I hope none of us ever have to, how it feels to lose a family member. (obviously I mean as a missing person, not someone who's died.)

Glad the ipod turned up. I really enjoyed reading this thread as we spent the first three weeks of the holiday in a similar exercise hunting the ipod. It turned up down the side of the sofa which would have made sense if we hadn't had all the cushions etc off already twice!

It's obviously slipped into another dimension - things do that all the time in our house.... especially keys, earphones, combs and the like. Ask the universe for the ipod back - and I bet it will turn up!

Indeed! Other things which this happens to regularly include: hairclips, socks (usually one of a pair), bus/work passes, shoes, remote controls, jewellery, buttons... I think my house is just one giant black hole!

I used to live in a subsiding student flat. The only good thing about living there was that if you dropped something in the living room, the floor was so wonky that it would always roll to a spot underneath the window lol!

Glad it's turned up - I was going to suggest checking the bins as it's amazing what you throw away ...

Having said that my OH is terrible for losing stuff. He once lost the car keys between getting out of the car and unlocking the back door. We must have searched for hours - all through the garden, the bathroom, the house, the fridge, I even tipped the bin out to check that. We were just about to give up and resign ourselves to the cost of a new set of keys when OH realised that he'd left them in the back door all along ...
