I would avoid any that advertise night vision.. They are just infra red LEDs. But being inside a screen you have to turn them off anyway.
Useless sales gimmick. Drop the LEDs with a silly short range anyway and make the rest that bit better.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
That appears to have an LCD screen which would be facing the driver.
If it does then you may want to check the law on having moving images within view of the driver.
No different to using a sat nav.
The image is only what you can see through the windscreen, why would you want to watch the same thing on a 1.5" screen?
Only thing I can find, (and have not really tried), is rule 105 of the HC, with the use of the word MUST, (not MUST NOT), relating to "exercising proper control": -

There is a danger of driver distraction being caused by in-vehicle systems such as satellite navigation systems, congestion warning systems, PCs, multi-media, etc. You MUST exercise proper control of your vehicle at all times. Do not rely on driver assistance systems such as cruise control or lane departure warnings. They are available to assist but you should not reduce your concentration levels. Do not be distracted by maps or screen-based information (such as navigation or vehicle management systems) while driving or riding. If necessary find a safe place to stop.

In the video he shows it behind the rear view mirror out of the drivers view.

Just about it!
Where are you going to power it from?
One of our cars has a push adapter into a power socket (nuisance) the other has a built in USB socket, so its fit and forget.0 -

Yes it is different, the law allows one and doesn't allow the other.
Whether you want to view it or not isn't relevant, the law does not allow moving images to be in view of the driver whilst driving.
However you don't have to convince me but good luck trying to argue your case in court.0 -

That is all I used, instead of taping the wire to the pillar, I pulled the door seal off and tucked the cable underneath the cover. (removing the covers is said to break the clips holding the cover on) I also found there is a small gap between the headlining and the screen, big enough to tuck the cable in, did not need any tape. A short bit of good old duct tape holds the wire in place when it drops down to the rear view mirror.
Apologies, I keep forgetting to pull the card out of the car to upload some clips for all!0 -

The USB cable arrived today, which is quite thick cable, this wont fit between the gap of pillar & windscreen unless I table right along. I am not keen taking the door seal off (esp as my car is new) but will have to rethink of how to fit this when camera arrives. How have others done this?0 -
Did mine around the windscreen same as Slowly - the headlining will pull out slightly, pushed in around the outer dash and taped under the steering column (new Mondeo).
There is always a gap between butted joints and the joints will retain their original shape - be bold!0 -
