Even the techmoan reviews mention buying something and it turns out to be a cheaply made piece of junk. Not living upto the specs.
Also others have bought from the same seller as he did and got inferior products.
I hope its not fake I bought it from the ebay seller link on here starting with "el......" shipped from china
I will check settings again but I am sure its on 1080p.0 -
got car wired up was very easy, tucked in behind seal easily, and rest under carpet. 4m USB cable was sufficient with about 0.5m spare!
I got it set at 30fpsm, loop ON, Audio OFF, 1920x1080 video. video clip length 5mins.
for some reason some files come can be played okay, some are saved as corrupt files.
how can you spot a fake camera?0 -
I would suggest formatting the sd card as an initial, your computer might also say if there are "bad" areas in the card. Techmoan also describes how to format the card using the actual camera.
I would leave sound on - yes, your voice does sound strange to yourself, but I want to record any verbal confessions if someone has crashed into me, come and talked to me in my car saying "I ran the red, but I will tell the cops you ran the red, and make you prove otherwise"
Sorry you are having problems with it!0 -
Fake SD cards are also an issue. I only buy mine from reputable sources. Even though i pay extra for them.
I know they are real ones.
You cannot spot the fakes usually. The specs and quality just dont match a genuine one.. May even be in the exact same case.
I bought a cheap satnav from ebuyer some years back, Navigo (i think). The case was an exact copy of a garmin one. Just without the garmin maps.
I installed TT and garmin maps though.
I thought about the camera after watching an accident scam take place in front of me and after the speed signs on the motorway changed overhead gantry said one speed but the roadworks sign said another.
I thought how would i be able to prove the signs were misleading.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

.
I bought this card http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=231076289299
when formatted it shows up as 32gb storage, but today on a 1 hour journey it recorded about 15 video clips. the first 9 could be replayed on Win 7 using VLC and media player, but the rest all came up as "error file corrupt"...not sure why that would happen.
I have reformatted the card (again) using the mssetup format tool.
how can you spot a fake card?
(otherwise the video coverage I did manage to record is pretty decent quality)0 -
google hwtest2w and download that. It will tell you if the card is fake or not.
Cheap unbranded card. Take the sellers refund option. They may well know the cards are cheap junk.
Nothing else for sale except those cards.
Your 32GB card maybe 4GB. Use their special software to transfer files and it will convert them to a lower spec.
But when transferring compressed files it cannot compress them enough and throws errors.
Get some software to test the cards real speed and size.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Sorry to hear that! I think it is a 4/5 gig card formatted to make it look like a 32 gig one. I bought a SanDisk 32gb red and grey card from Amazon. Currently £17.75 with free posting.
You have probably seen Techmoan's little tip on formatting?

To format the camera, you need to know
1. if your camera only support 16GB, but you use 32GB, there will be problem
2. use high quality card, not use low quality card
3. insert the card into camera, then start camera, and format, do not use other equipment to format it.
4. if your camera support SD card, do not use TF card
there is useful information
