In the bar in my missus's village in Ukraine the beer is around 45p for 1/2 litre (just shy of a pint) and it's really nice. At the umbrella bars in Kiev the same drink is around 80p but at the airport it's well over a fiver. That's a big mark up.

I can remember accidentally ordering a Czech beer in Ukraine. Cost about 5 times the local brew. Still only about £2 though.

Pint of Doom Bar in our local £3.70 - major rip-off!! Go to the next village and its £2.80 - Nr Penzance, Cornwall

I have paid less that £3.70 for a pint of Doom Bar in Central London:eek:

Our local sells hand pulled real ale at £2.50 but there is a club within a couple of miles where it is about £1.80.

I sometimes drink beer and sometimes wine and the price of wine is more of an issue to me:beer:

  • Was in London yesterday and popped into a standard pub near Holborn to catch the end of the Utd vs Arsenal game. It was called the Prince of Wales and a pint of staropramen was £5.10

Nearly fell over and it highlighted why i have never lived in London nor have any desire to.

Know what you mean mate. I'm an exiled Geordie - my local in Newcastle is around £2.10 for standard lager (it's an estate pub mind you!) but where I live now in the Thames Valley region it averages at around £3.75 - £4.00

Luckily my wife doesn't expect much at Christmas...

£4 in South London, Lewisham etc.

£5 in EC, N1, SW1 etc, but tend not to sell 'cheap' beers, Carlsberg, Corona etc.

    Not a happy bunny!
