Sitting here reflecting on the last few weeks and how so many of us retreat when things get tough. It's a bit crazy when you think about it. If there is ever a time when you need support and encouragement, it's when the chips are down. Yet we often don't feel we have the mental/emotional strength to discuss it and/or we don't want to burden others or come across as a moaner. I think we have it wrong! Those who truly care for us would welcome the opportunity to help - allowing friends and loved ones to help you is a gift you give to them in many ways. It's hard for many of us to accept help but this is often how those who matter to us are able to show us that they care and wouldn't you welcome the opportunity to do the same? I am not talking about financial help. It could be something as simple as an afternoon chat over tea and scones. Pulling away from our support networks is just plain crazy.......but that's easy for me to say now that the pressure is lifting!

Hello kbl! That is very kind of you to say - you kind of took me by surprise when I first saw your message but in a good way. It's lovely to think that in sharing experiences here, others might find something to reflect on or hold on to. It will definitely get better if you continue to push your life in the right direction. Don't allow the negative aspects to derail you. Lots of love and luck to you. X

Talking of negative aspects (although I am getting better and better at shrugging them off.....), we are finally home from Dover......after an unplanned overnight stay.......and no vehicle. Picked up the car on Saturday and set off home. 20 minutes up the road, 70mph, car slips out of 5th gear. Weird. Put it back in gear. 5 minutes later, slips out again. Go to pull off at next exit, slips out again. Turn round, return car to garage. They tweak what they can. We set off again. Get almost to M25, car slips out of 5th. Head for next exit holding car in gear. Remove my hand for a second to indicate, slips out again. Stop at services, call mechanic, explain we will bring the car back Sunday, manage to book a hotel nearby - we don't even have a toothbrush between us! Dropped car back this morning then had to wait on my superb brother-in-law driving all the way from North Yorkshire to come and get us.

Needless to say, it has been far more expensive than planned and we have accomplished nothing. But, we have enjoyed being together at least. I'm pretty tired and fed up with the vehicle issues to be honest.

Lol! Unfortunately, I subscribe to, "What doesn't kill you will come back and have another go....." and my current car problems only seem to support that! :D :rotfl:
