That's so great, crimson! Well done! You might not feel completely on top of it but you have still kept you debts on the downward slope. Fantastic news to break 50%! :T
Things here are continuing well for the most part: Movers are booked, my kids are here for 2 weeks, and we have a fridge/freezer full of food for the first time in ages. Debt not gone down any but that couldn't be helped in the circumstances. We didn't take on additional debt to pay for the car repairs and that was a big deal in itself. Utilities have all been notified along with council tax. Waiting on hubby's pay on the 25th to shut down his bank account.
Plus, in the last 2 lottery draws I have won £65.00 in total! Whoop! Pleased for you, HOK3Y.
On a separate note, would you have any idea how much it would cost to ship a car (just a car) from the US to UK?2018 totals:
Savings £11,200
Mortgage Overpayments £5,5000 -
Thanks brizzle and Alex! I am glad to be back on an upswing!
Alex, it depends how you want to ship it and from where in the States. If you want to do 'roll on, roll off' it will be the cheapest option but it depends which port in the States it starts at. I was quoted £837 to roll on at Southampton and roll off at Jacksonville, FL. I would have had to do all the paperwork, customs clearing (you will have to pay import duty also I am sure), and I had to drop the car in Southampton and pick it up in FL. We've opted for a different shipment in that it is getting crated with our household goods and picked up at our home and dropped off at our address in the US instead. I suppose it would be a similar cost to crate a vehicle without the household goods so we've been quoted £4500 for that.Credit Card Freedom gained 14 Feb 2014!!Total Debt Freedom gained 29 Apr 2014!!Savings goal 30/9/23: £72,000/£538,001.....yes I'm serious!Total Debt August 2013: [STRIKE]$21,587[/STRIKE] April 2014: $0!!!!:j0 -
HOK3Y: Thank you for the information, it all sounds rather complicated. Mrs. K. and I fancy trying something classic and American at some point (not in the near future) but didn't really know how much it would cost to get a car to the UK from the States.
Anyhow, when are you going to the US? And have you two found jobs out there?2018 totals:
Savings £11,200
Mortgage Overpayments £5,5000 -
No, no jobs yet but then we have upped sticks and moved before without jobs - not remotely worried about that aspect! Both of us are not afraid to work anywhere to put food on the table until something better lands infront of us. We have an idea of what we're going to do for money but need to set everything in motion when we get there. The nice thing though is that we will be debt and mortgage/rent free!Credit Card Freedom gained 14 Feb 2014!!Total Debt Freedom gained 29 Apr 2014!!Savings goal 30/9/23: £72,000/£538,001.....yes I'm serious!Total Debt August 2013: [STRIKE]$21,587[/STRIKE] April 2014: $0!!!!:j0

Great news on the increase and the bonus. Very sad news that you will have to leave a job you love shortly after the increase and bonus. Still you give a lot to that company and you deserve the bonus no matter when you are leaving xSealed Pot Challenge member #071 VSP #4
