Feeling proud of myself: The managing agent for our flat tried to charge us a fee for the inventory check out which wasn't clearly spelled out in the lease. Unfortunately for them, I work for a property management company and am surrounded by knowledgeable property surveyors......who gave me some great advice.....and I challenged the fee quoting some guidance from OFT and they have agreed to waive it! Haha!! Happy HOK3Y!!!

I can't believe you're making the move so quickly! So when exactly will you be heading stateside?

I watched extreme couponers last night and thought - how soon till we see hoks with a stockpile worth 30,000 dollars pointing at washing powder, sanitary products and gatorade and smiling 'this was free, all free, got this free'

Please say you'll jump on extreme couponing when you move and post up pictures! I would love to coupon and it is the one thing that tempts me to the US!!!!!

C-R, I proper laughed out loud and had to explain myself to my hubby! Yeah, why do I get the feeling I'll be tackling couponning with gusto?! I have missed them being back in the UK as you just don't see many here. Just gotta get through all the paperwork......keep your fingers crossed!

Brizzle, I tell you, it takes serious determination to get where you are. But the effort it takes to get there is considerably more than it takes to remain there (at least that's my perspective). If you can fight to get out of the debt, the life you can have afterwards is so much better - so less stressful and draining. It is such a gift you have given to yourself - well done!!!

As for me, I am currently sitting on a train to Dover.....again. Apparently the ca is fixed and I am seriously hoping that is the case. On my own as Mr HOK3Y has to work.......and I'm not sure who got the better end of the deal to be fair!

Well it has been a bit busy in the house of HOK3Y. We now have a firm quote for the removal of our goods and vehicle to the US. The money from my CICA claim arrived today and I have been able to pay enough rent to make it even when they take the deposit on our vacation of the property. I have £1,000 to pay to the movers to secure our pack out date. My application is at the US Embassy and we're waiting on word on that. I still have nowhere to live as of May 8th but I'm strangely unconcerned! Mr HOK3Y will be leaving around that time and I will be here alone - and without my car! Boooooo!

So life is on the up! I am contemplating grabbing something yummy to eat on the way home seeing as I actually have some pennies in the bank. Things feel like they are levelling out a little and I'm so grateful for that.
