No problem castle - you are very welcome and thanks for popping over here to say hello!
Well, I have had the most productive afternoon in a while. We have had a minor (errrrr, major!) filing issue over the last......well, year. I've had a small stack of revolving papers on the dining room table and a pile about 10 inches deep sat ATOP the filing cabinet rather than actually filed. So, today I brought the filing cabinet and all the papers into the front room, sorted, shredded and filed to my heart's content. I have gotten rid of tons of stuff we didn't need, taken care of a few things I was procrastinating about, and we now have zero outstanding filing. My life is at peace!Anyone else hate the feeling you get when you know you are not organized? It feels so much better to have taken care of all that paper. Like a weight has lifted. Note to self, don't let it get that bad again. *HOK3Y gives self a kick up the tushie*

While clearing out the paperwork today, I have come across a Treasury bond from the US. Now, these used to be a real pita to cash in but I don't know how it stands today. So, I have emailed my bank to ask if they can cash it for me......and if they can that's an additional $30+ off my USD cc! Not a mega amount but every bit helps and I will be over the moon!
Listed 3 new auctions on Ebay today that I am hopeful will make a dent in the £10 a day September challenge. Then it will be payday and I can start with the match betting again and really sprint for the finishing line! That challenge is pushing me seriously this month and that's not a bad thing!Credit Card Freedom gained 14 Feb 2014!!Total Debt Freedom gained 29 Apr 2014!!Savings goal 30/9/23: £72,000/£538,001.....yes I'm serious!Total Debt August 2013: [STRIKE]$21,587[/STRIKE] April 2014: $0!!!!:j0 -
Well looks like the bond may be dead in the water and the only way I can cash it is to walk into the bank in Texas.......ah, well, I think perhaps I'll hold onto it and let it increase some more and wait for the next time I go Stateside.......which isn't planned anytime in the future at all!Credit Card Freedom gained 14 Feb 2014!!Total Debt Freedom gained 29 Apr 2014!!Savings goal 30/9/23: £72,000/£538,001.....yes I'm serious!Total Debt August 2013: [STRIKE]$21,587[/STRIKE] April 2014: $0!!!!:j0

Yeah they are pretty awesome which is why I am paying the credit card in full - last company I would ever want to annoy as they are utterly amazing! It's also probably why I wanted to go postal in HSBC within 6 weeks of moving back.......they have been a real pita to be honest! Seriously considering the switch to First Direct as, even though owned by HSBC, they are supposed to be excellent and the £125 sign up bonus is looking mighty attractive!
Just took a quick trip to the local Sainsbury's for Sunday dessert (the only time we allow ourselves a sweet treat) and found 1p at the checkout! Oh the little things! Plus signed up for a Nectar card to collect points. It all helps!Credit Card Freedom gained 14 Feb 2014!!Total Debt Freedom gained 29 Apr 2014!!Savings goal 30/9/23: £72,000/£538,001.....yes I'm serious!Total Debt August 2013: [STRIKE]$21,587[/STRIKE] April 2014: $0!!!!:j0 -
Quite proud of me today and so I am giving myself a well deserved pat on the back. I have been home all day (barring the short trip to Sainsburys) and I've worked my tail off all day with the filing and the first round of Ebay auctions. This evening I have listed 3 more auctions (might as well with the free listing), signed Mr HOK3Y up for a co-op card so we stop missing points, logged onto my internet banking and set up some future payments, emailed the recipient of those future dated transactions so that they know to expect them, AND connected my new Nectar card to my Ebay account. Frankly, I feel like Debt-Busting-Wonder-Woman! Does this mean I get to wear satin hotpants and a whip?? God, don't even mention a word of that to Mr HOK3Y or tomorrow will not be an NSD.......lol!
*HOK3Y is on a roll........*

Aaahhh, the dawn of another Monday.....one day I will honestly say I am happy to see you but for now we'll stick with
To be fair, I will have a perfectly great day at the office as I enjoy my job and the girls I manage are terrific. I tend to rub off on those around me and so am usually offered lots of smiles and kindness. There is nothing for me to dislike about my work. It would just seem that I would prefer to stay in bed! :rotfl: Lazy bloodclot that I am!
Well, it won't quite be a NSD as I have a package to mail but there will be no unnecessary spends for sure. Here's hoping for some road kill on the way to the post office and a good day for my auctions. 8 days to payday!Credit Card Freedom gained 14 Feb 2014!!Total Debt Freedom gained 29 Apr 2014!!Savings goal 30/9/23: £72,000/£538,001.....yes I'm serious!Total Debt August 2013: [STRIKE]$21,587[/STRIKE] April 2014: $0!!!!:j0 -
So, Miss Perpetually Positive (aka moi, HOK3Y) had something happen yesterday that I think you would consider a bit of a road bump. Not going to explain it because it's not worth the negative energy that surrounds it and will only affect me to write, but basically I have an unexpected £400 expense coming up soon. I took a bit of a positivity hit when I found out and it took me a couple of hours to regain my bliss. Yes, I have to absorb these numbers somehow. Is it going to affect my budget - no, I won't allow it. Is it going to change my end goal or date - no, I won't allow it. Am I going to find a way to generate an equal or higher number to balance the unexpected spend - dead bloomin' right I am! So, universe, I will take the hit and raise you a windfall!
Hey hun, whilst this isn't exactly what you wanted, remember you had that unexpected £350 windfall earlier in the week so actually you have only incurred a £50 unexpected expense, much easier to deal with when you think about it like that! :jWell, I have had the most productive afternoon in a while. Ugh! I am so guilty of this. I have a lovely neat filling cabinet to keep all our important paperwork in. When I couldn't be bothered to keep up to date with this I had a box, which had papers to file in it. Now the box is full, I have the table by the front door, which has papers to go into the papers to be filed box! :wall::wall: Must take some inspiration from you and get on with sorting it out!!Aaahhh, the dawn of another Monday.....one day I will honestly say I am happy to see you but for now we'll stick with

Mondays do indeed suck! Especially when its all rainy and miserable like it is here today. At least you know that you will have a nice day spent with people you like. Work is much the same for me, everyone is lovely and the work is good.
Wishing you a fabbo debt free/debt busting week!! xxxx0 -
Wegle!! You are so right about that bill being £350 less! I didn't even think about that so thank you for the positivity booster!
. I can tell you that the hour or two it took me to sort the paperwork was the best time I spent all weekend. The psychological lift of having sorted it all made it extremely worthwhile. Bring it all in to your front room, stick something good on the TV/music player and get it done! You will feel soooo much better.
You know, sucky Monday or not, I had a happy experience at the post office when the package was £2 less to mail than I expected and I found two separate pennies on my way there - thank you, Universe!
Hope your Monday was just as good, wegle. Off to check in with your diary. XCredit Card Freedom gained 14 Feb 2014!!Total Debt Freedom gained 29 Apr 2014!!Savings goal 30/9/23: £72,000/£538,001.....yes I'm serious!Total Debt August 2013: [STRIKE]$21,587[/STRIKE] April 2014: $0!!!!:j0 -
Making my dinner tonight and had to share about the breaded chicken steaks we have found in Asda. You get 6 in a pack and if you buy 3 packs it's £10. These things are delicious! We cook them up and serve them with everything and they feed us for over a week! Tonight I am cooking one for me and I'm going to slice it up and put it in a wrap with some lettuce, tomato and onion. Beats the hell out of fast food (and it literally IS fast food - takes no time to cook). My favourite current meal and the whole thing costs me well under £1. Having blackcurrant and apple squash with water out of the tap. Still under £1! Try the chicken steaks - they are in the refrigerated section (not frozen) and you can get plain or southern fried.Credit Card Freedom gained 14 Feb 2014!!Total Debt Freedom gained 29 Apr 2014!!Savings goal 30/9/23: £72,000/£538,001.....yes I'm serious!Total Debt August 2013: [STRIKE]$21,587[/STRIKE] April 2014: $0!!!!:j0
