Bring on that next debt! It won't know what's hit it!!!

Great news on that extra £350! I love it when you get an unexpected windfall like that.

Spreadsheets are soooooo much fun for debt busting. I find myself adding a new tab nearly everyday to mine that I can track money in some new fangled slightly different way. It really helps with the staying focused on the end game as well.

50K in savings! That's incredible. You working that out made me do the same for ours and if we continue to do our joint savings and I continue to save what I have been/planning to pay towards my debt once it's gone we will have £4,820! Not quite 50K, but that's more money than we will ever had put by in our whole lifetime! And a great baby making fund!!

Keep up the great work hun and have a wicked weekend! xxx

    Hello crimson and wegle!

By all means tag along for the ride crimson. :). I try to be Miss Perpetually Positive which may translate to Miss Rather Mental at times but heck it's set to be a fun slide into debt-free base!

Wegle you are so sweet to me! :) Thank you so much for riding along with me. I have just got home from the office and am enjoying a cup of tea before playing with my spreadsheet. I agree: love them! Such a good motivator. I have to admit that my savings figure includes the sale of a rather expensive piece of jewellery which has already been on consignment for over a year (but I have a feeling it will be gone by Dec 2015) and some money that Hubster is waiting on from his father, but if all goes to plan, that total is within the realm of possibility. Of course, the lottery win that's coming my way this year will utterly outstrip £50k but it's always good to have something to fall back on.....:rotfl:

You know that old saying 'What doesn't kill you makes your stronger'? Well, I'm calling BS on this one where debt is concerned. Debt does not make anyone stronger. It weakens people in so many ways. It might not kill you (some, unfortunately, it will) but it doesn't make you stronger.

Now, I tend to subscribe to the 'What doesn't kill you will probably come back and try again' perspective and we can see this played out in a lot of the debt diaries here where people have tried 2, 3 or more times to get out of it's grip. It seems to me the only solution to both of these sayings is to make sure you kill the debt absolutely. Deader than a dead mouse on death row in the dead of winter. Dead, dead, dead. Beat it to a bloody, viscous pulp and then scoop up the remains, stick it in a blender, and turn the setting to high. Do not stop until not only are you out of debt absolutely but you are on track to some serious savings. At this point you can say with certainty that you are stronger than the debt and it won't be coming back. Do not stop until you feel you walk with a financial baseball bat and you are not afraid to use it in a dark alley.

May the force be with us all!

Off to bed to finish reading The Secret - already 3/4 of the way through. Hubby is listening to it on audio book and has come home tonight the happiest I have seen him in a long time. I can see that he buys this principle just as much as I do and I hope he can continue to feel inspired by the sheer tidal wave of positivity the book provides. I feel bloomin' marvellous! Off to bed so that I can wake up and make myself a little bit richer tomorrow......:D

Okay, before I actually go, I will share a story that ties in exactly with this book. About 18 months ago, I was considering a move back to the UK and I was secretly worried about doing it. I came here for a few days to search for a house and the first day in the UK I said to the universe, "Okay, if it is the right thing to do, let me find a pound coin while I am here".

Well nothing happened through the whole 3 days and so I stopped at Morrisons on my way out of town to pick up some groceries to take back to the mainland. As I left the store, it was pouring rain. Huge, heavy droplets. Everyone was cowering at the entrance. I looked up to the sky and in my head I said, "Well universe, I don't think you have much time left to deliver that £1 coin and I would love to find one". With that I took off running (literally) for my car. There on the ground about 2 feet from my car door was a single pound coin. I picked it up, beaming from ear to ear, and said thank you to the universe.

The universe is a powerful and amazing thing. Sending out thanks tonight for all the blessings in my life - including this forum. G'night fellow DFWs! X

You are doing so well! I like your point about positive energy, it really does help, although it can be difficult to stay chipper whilst debt busting! Keep up the good work x
