Well, Friday needs no introductions and I am just thrilled to be staring down the weekend again! Frighteningly, this weekend sees the end of November and the start of December. I cannot believe the year is gone already! Yet again, I have thought I was organized but the truth is that Christmas has ambushed me and I still have plenty to sort out. Bleuch. Christmas doesn't interest me like it used to. The expense definitely isn't doing anything for me!

I am looking at a busy day in the office but that's good - it will fly by I am sure. Hubby is working both jobs again this weekend so lots of support going his way. I simply have to go into town tomorrow and do some Christmas present shopping. Grrrrr! I really don't like spending our money these days!

Hope everyone has a profitable Friday and that this evening is upon you in the blink of an eye! Lots of love and luck my fellow DFWs!

Well, Mr HOK3Y is off work for a full week on doctor's orders due to a swollen tendon in his right arm which is causing significant problems. So it's a bit of a moot issue with his second job for a little while....possibly ever. We shall see.

Had an amazing day on the roadkill front.....passed the coinstar machine in A$da and it had a large handful of coins sitting on top of the basket! Brought it all home and it totalled £2.30!!!! Found a further 21p in the store too. Found receipts netted us a nice total of £3.03 so far in vouchers for the day but we are just getting ready to head out for another search around.

Can't believe November will be over in a few short hours and then it's a full on run towards Christmas. Where does the time go?! We are going away for Christmas so we will be tucked up in a converted hayloft 3 weeks from now and truly can't wait to get away for a while. We haven't taken some time out to just relax in an awful long time and desperately need to chill out. So while spending the pennies wasn't the easiest thing to do, it was absolutely the right thing. Don't really need to be at home for Christmas with some of the painful things that will come up for me at that time of year.

So I am hopeful of coming home with enough w/r to push me into triple figures before November bids us farewell.........seriously going to be pushing it but I am going to try!!! Hope everyone is having a profitable Saturday!

OMG!!! I have just totalled up my roadkill for the month and I have found £22.51!!! But the biggest surprise is that we have made a total of £103.66 from wombled receipts!!!! This is amazing to me and has shaved almost 50% off our grocery bill for the month. Actually, when you add in the roadkill, it is a little over 50% and all for free. I will be trying to improve on these numbers through December.....oh yes I will!!!!

HOK3Y: I don't understand how you are making money from receipts? Anyhow, well done!

  • I think your receipt wombling is amazing Hoks!!! I wished had a supermarket near us we could try it in but we only have a mini store and the security guard spends all his time cleaning up the self-service tills and the other shops are so far away it's a false economy!!!! But I think you're onto a winner!!!!!

I hope you're feeling ready to get back on it today being the first of the month? I have to say I feel invigorated and ready to start beating those debts!! Only problem is-they can't be busted til tomorrow when the first payments go out!!!!! Doh!!!!!!!! :)

Damn-we should have done some sort of December advent calendar debt busting challenge--- destroy a debt each day in December while eating an advent chocolate!!!!!! :):):) that would have ROCKED!!!!!!!!

Together we shall overcome!!! And your going away for the Xmas week!! So jealous! We have to traipse between the OH's parents and mine! We've had 8 years of this now though and next year we're forcing everyone to come to US instead!!! Can't wait!!!!

Have a great wombling day! I couldn't keep doing this without you here 'virtually' with me!!!!

It's to do with A$da, Alex. I live very close to one and take several trips there a day to look for receipts that people drop or leave in the carts. I bring them home, and put the barcode into A$da's website. If it is not 10% cheaper than their competitors, they churn out a voucher and this is how I made over £100 last month. Pretty amazing for discarded bits of paper.

I also managed to make £3.20 with clicksnap - you can pick up receipts from any of the major supermarkets and check to see if they contain any of this weeks offers. If they do, you can upload them for cash back. Not as profitable as A$da but worth checking.

So December is here and Christmas is a little over 3 weeks away......and I am still not prepared! Heading out today to grab a few bits and bobs so that we can get some presents mailed tomorrow. Also we can do a quick roundup of what we do have and what is left to buy. God I hate the expense of this. I am really resisting spending anything at this point!

So, hopping in the shower and then I am heading out for the first roadkill/receipt mission of the month. Hoping to smash the total found last month - going for a combined total of £150 in December! Gonna need it to help with bloomin' Christmas!

Wishing all my fellow DFWs a profitable Sunday and a marvellous start to December.

Ah, we cross posted C-R!! Hello Honey!

I couldn't do it without you either - I love checking in with you and your posts always make me smile. I find myself quite proud of you and your achievements and it spurs me on. You're like my DFW twin: We're both tracking similar debt, both looking to be free by summer (late spring would be preferable!), and we're both a bit determined (yeah, I'd like to see anyone attempt to get in our way at this point!).....:D

The receipts really blew me out of the water in November. I thought £60 was aiming high until I realized just how much more we were collecting by being consistent and going at least twice a day. It's been eye opening and I will do everything in my power to smash the November total this month. It's going to be a silly expensive month anyway and, to be honest, I do resent every single penny!!!

An advent calendar challenge....oh that would have been cool! I'm sitting here a little jealous of you as I don't have any advent calendars and would have loved to wake up to a piece of chocolate this morning! Actually, I ate an entire tube of jelly tots last night and felt decidedly sick so maybe I am better off steering clear of the sweet stuff today! :D

Love traveling this path with you C-R and truly can't wait to reach our DF destination. Major party time at that point!

It has been a good day in the HOK3Y household - some extra Christmas presents were purchased (urg!), we got to eat lunch out for the first time in ages, and we found a very respectable £7.56 in w/r so we're off to a decent start! :) Getting ready to snuggle down with Mr HOK3Y and watch a movie.....with Ryan Reynolds.......God my life is good! :D G'night my fellow DFWs!

Monday!! Me ol' mucker!! We meet again! :D. Welcome to the start of another week and the true beginning of another month. This week should see December fully roll in and absolute panic manifest itself over the Christmas shopping I haven't done and am flat out resisting. It could be an interesting few days....:)

All I can do for the next few weeks is hold on and try to manage my finances as best I can while bringing in as many pennies as possible. I have a few things I could EBay and I think I should! I was less than amused at spending what I spent yesterday and can only see that spiraling in the next week or so. Really starting to resent Christmas!

On the positive side, I have less than 3 weeks to work until I am off for about 10 days and I cannot wait. I have every intention of holing myself up in the barn and ignoring the world for a few days. Seeing as the barn has a sauna, a woodstove, and a beautiful hammered copper bath, it won't be a hardship!

Wishing all my fellow DFWs a bright and profitable Monday!

I cannot even think where our "local" Asda is, Chesterfield perhaps.

So, there can be something worth keeping on receipts? :) If I go to the supermarket I ask they do not give me the receipt, in fact unless it's a bill for over £1,000 I always tell shops to throw it away.

Don't worry about not being prepared for Christmas, despite having some of our decorations up and a "helping hand" from one of Santa's Elves, we are in no way, shape or form prepared. My parents on the other hand have bought all their presents already .... makes you sick, doesn't it? ;) :rotfl:
