Oh my! What an evening this has been for me! I came home to a tax return and a CICA reclaim, then came here to find a lovely PM and this heart warming message. Thank you so much Camillia. You have hit the nail on the head about my children - I am not the same. They were my life's work and it is extremely hard without them, especially given the circumstances. I can't really think about it much without sheer devastation sweeping in and destroying my wall of positivity but I truly appreciate your words. Thank you and major hugs to you regards your son. It is not easy to be a mother and apart from a child who will always be a part of you. x

It is lovely to know that my slightly manic positivity is helpful!! I do love that! And yes, I am a very firm believer in the law of attraction and I have some stories I could tell to hammer the point home - some good, and some not so good. You definitely have to be careful what you wish for and so now I wish only for good things and good things are happening all around me. The universe is amazing!

LOL! Yes, the roadkill thread has provided many a laugh in the house of HOK3Y!!!! Sometimes I wonder if I have created a few monsters!! Hehehehe! Well, they are slightly richer monsters at least! :D Join in next month - you might be surprised how much money you find. :)

So I have finished Mr HOK3Y's tax return for last year and now I just have to get mine done (we both had small businesses last year that we ran for a few months when we first moved here) and I can forget all about that. I had to refill in a claim for CICA after they deleted my original claim......and I only found out after waiting the average 8 months and hearing nothing. Urg. So, it has been done again and I guess I will not be so patient this time and might call them in a couple of weeks if I have heard nothing!

I am honestly bushed tonight and ready for bed earlier than normal - an early night never hurt anyone. Lots of love and luck to all my fellow DFWs - I'm off to start the December roadkill thread and then I am off to my bed!

Well hello Tuesday! One payday down yesterday, another to come on Friday and some pennies to the US account as of the 1st which should mean I get to hit the debt again and drop it under $14k! Whoop! Mid month should see it drop well under $13k......hopefully even under $12k but I still have to handle Christmas so we shall see. It all depends on that Christmas bonus......I am so excited about that!

So very pleased with how far I have come since the end of August when I first came here. It has been amazing to have so much support and genuine care and empathy - thank you for all of your well wishes, your thanks, your encouragement. How could any of us haul ourselves out of the mire without the comraderie to be found here. It's just fantastic.

Wishing all of you a fabulous Tuesday with lots of extra pennies thrown your way!

  • Hey HOK3Y, I have been so busy with work recently.

Congrats on all the money coming in. I think i will have to try to positivity and hope i don't lose my job at the moment. I have been telling myself that it won't happen and trying not to let it bother me.

Anyhu, have you been keeping up with your Sealed Pot. I remember you are a member and it is count up day Thursday xx

Hiya crimson!! Aaaaaahhhh, yes, well.......I learned something about me through that challenge......if I keep anything larger than a 5p in a jar in the house (sealed or not) I will raid it......so my sealed jar is a little on the sad front! So what I did is I took all the truly small change and transferred it to my large sealed coffee can and I am going to try to fill it this year with roadkill and change from cash purchases. It's got a fair bit in it already and I won't raid it for parking money and the like with such small coins. :)

Well I am not sure where the day has gone. I have been pulled in a million directions and gotten nowhere. Our bank has introduced new software and I have been assigned as the IT expert (this is truly laughable to me) and am currently trying to learn it myself and train EVERYONE else!!! I am trying to tell myself that it is not a hideous new program and that I will get used to it.......but in all honesty I think it's God awful and I'm not sure what they were thinking with some of the changes! The odd thing I think is great but most of the rest is just awful. I have a long email into their training section for advice and considering I have called them 4 times today, I'm a little tired of their wonderful new system!!

So very happy to be heading home to some pjs and a mug of tea. Not before wombling a few receipts though! :D

Oh, nearly forgot! Hubby sent me a text earlier to tell me that his Dad has given us some pennies for Christmas!! Whoop! This means that the cc will be taking over a 1% hit here in the next day or two which will drop it under $3k and the total debt well under $14k!!!! Yeah!!!!!

Tonight is Nickelback night!!!!! Third time seeing them in concert and they are freakishly brilliant live. Frankly this should be the night of the year for me and I have no intention of coming home with a voice. Roadkill? Yes. Voice? No! :D

Can't believe what a great couple of weeks I have had and even the couple of crappy things didn't make much of a dent. What will be will be and there is no point in being miserable for it will change nothing and only spoil the good things in your life. But I have to admit that even I was surprised that there was no rage or indignation when my student finance was declined - because I haven't lived in the EU at least 3 years.......when I've been in the EU since 1999!!!! Ah well, must be an error in something I ticked so I'll give them a call sometime this week. This is not normal for me. I would usually be furious at them and frustrated at the inconvenience of having to call. Nah. Can't be bothered with the negativity - it won't change the outcome but it will change my experience of it for the worse. :)

Keep smiling and pushing forward my lovely DFWs!

Well hello Thursday!! Last night was absolutely awesome and I am sitting at the train station sucking on a soother for my well earned sore throat! Had a total blast which was only slightly marred by Mr HOK3Y having a bit of a wobbly before I went (which I am still unsure of) and being rather sulky when I got back. I have to admit to having little patience for stuff like this so this morning I have gotten myself up and ready for work without so much as a goodbye in his direction as I left - to be fair, he was still in bed. I'm just not in the mood for a tantrum. Men can be a real pain in the tush sometimes.

So what does my day hold in store? Well, an ibuprofen when I get to work! :D. I have a stonking headache and no I didn't drink anything last night! I finally finished the horrid task at work that I've been working on for two weeks so I have managed to reclaim some of my desk at least!! Should be a decent day as good staff member is back.

Wishing all my fellow DFWs a profitable day and don't forget that tomorrow it's Friday!!!!

Thanks C-R and I certainly gave it a good go last night!! Had a blast!

Thanks brizzle and he is in a better mood this evening so all is well in the house of HOK3Y. Sometimes, he is better off just having a bit of space!

Well, it has been a busy day and tomorrow I will find out how much Mr HOK3Y has made for his first half month at his new job. I am itching to find out, not least because his main pay packet was down this month after inadvertently signing up for the Share Incentive Plan! Still mulling over whether to stop it or not. It seems to be a good deal but the funds won't be accessible without paying tax and NI for 5 years.....and we will need the cash sooner than that.....but I suppose if the shares increase in the next couple of years and we've made money on the tax free portion, it would be worth it to pay the tax and NI on an early withdrawal......hmmmmm. Still thinking about it!

Anyway, I am hoping that his second paypacket can easily replenish that shortfall and see us through to mid December when my pay comes through.

Think I am going to turn in for an early night - I am bushed and should probably get up early and head into the office. Sleep tight DFWs!! x
