OMG! Sitting at the train station and it is bloomin' freezing cold this morning! Only have to work until lunchtime and then I am off for some quality time with my son. Yesterday evening was a lot of fun with my sister and her kids. Think we annoyed the neighbours sufficiently! Mr HOK3Y said he could hear us laughing from the ground floor......we live on the 2nd!!!!
Hoping for some extra roadkill today to tip me over £15 for the month. Hubby is meeting me from the train to go on a receipt hunt too. Love and luck to my fellow DFWs for a great debt busting day.
It's just really foggy here, but surprisingly mild. Well it is the English Riviera don't ya know!!
Good luck on the receipt hunt. I've got to remember to do that when I go Tesco tomorrow!0 -
Lucky you, wegle! The north is not so forgiving at this time of year! One of the girls at work said she had a thin layer of frost on her car.....but seeing as she is prone to drama, you can take that with a large pinch of salt!
23p in roadkill found today which includes 20p found in a telephone box. 2 wombled receipts to check in a little while, one of which is HUGE! Please let there be some pennies on that one!Credit Card Freedom gained 14 Feb 2014!!Total Debt Freedom gained 29 Apr 2014!!Savings goal 30/9/23: £72,000/£538,001.....yes I'm serious!Total Debt August 2013: [STRIKE]$21,587[/STRIKE] April 2014: $0!!!!:j0 -
£2.19 from the wombled receipts - these have quite literally put food on our table this month. I am astounded how much money we have made since October 1st just by taking a daily walk around the car park. It will continue for the foreseeable future!
Meanwhile, I have been doing some thinking about goals for the next year. I have been planning on getting all the debt paid and then saving like crazy for a huge deposit on our dream home. I've decided to shift angles on this. Yes, the debt is still going as soon as I can possibly get it gone, but we are no longer saving for a dream home - we are saving to buy the property which will eventually become our first rental property. I need to get Mr HOK3Y a small credit card to build some credit history and I need to find out what we will need to get a mortgage and for how much. Then we will buy a smaller home, pay the mortgage off as fast as we can (this is far superior to me than continuing to pay rent for a longer time while saving for the dream home), then rent that property out once we have paid it off and saved the deposit for our forever home.
All of this fits in with my plans to have half a mil in the next 10 years. Yes I am slightly mad. No I do not earn a fortune. Yes I believe that positive thinking is going to get me a long way. I am going for it and I don't really care HOW it is going to happen, all I know is that it IS. I am moving toward it, I am expecting it, I am darn well going to do it. End of.
Of course, this just makes me all the more excited to get rid of this hideous debt faster! Now, where is my s/s so can fiddle with it some more.......:DCredit Card Freedom gained 14 Feb 2014!!Total Debt Freedom gained 29 Apr 2014!!Savings goal 30/9/23: £72,000/£538,001.....yes I'm serious!Total Debt August 2013: [STRIKE]$21,587[/STRIKE] April 2014: $0!!!!:j0 -

Hiya brizzle! Yeah, I like £500k a lot too!
I am very lucky to have a hubby who wants this as much as I do and isn't afraid to do whatever it takes to get where we want to be. He has no shame in picking up a penny or checking for change in payphones and parking machines. We have even started picking up discarded lottery scratchcards. Whatever it takes to increase the pennies in our pockets. This month has been pretty amazing and we will continue what we are doing while figuring out what more we need to do. I'd probably describe us both as pretty intense to be fair! And we both know that our approach isn't for everyone......but we're cool with that!

So my son is grabbing a shower and I am getting ready to enjoy my last few hours with him. We're off to get lunch in town and chill for a little while. I will be so sad to see him go. Breaks my heart every time. He is currently belting out various Nickelback songs in the shower......I have taught him well!
I see a receipt search in my near future along with a roadkill hunt.....yesterday, my boy put a 20p on the ground and tried to convince me that he just found it! Such is the competitive nature of our walks these days!Of course, there will be time spent searching out coins in the airport because I'd be mad not to look there. So hopefully I will be able to report a find or two later today.
Wishing all my fellow DFWs lots of love and luck for a profitable day.Credit Card Freedom gained 14 Feb 2014!!Total Debt Freedom gained 29 Apr 2014!!Savings goal 30/9/23: £72,000/£538,001.....yes I'm serious!Total Debt August 2013: [STRIKE]$21,587[/STRIKE] April 2014: $0!!!!:j0 -
