    Hello hello SSers

Pay days have been and I am started on Oct Budgets. See you on that thread.

I have been clocking up the SFDs since being back from our N.Ireland family visit. SFDs=16. Same as August. Tomorrow will be a spend day as we need milk and I managed to drop my phone and smash the screen. So a trip to the wee phone shop in town, fingers crossed it's no more than £15- my friend paid that for hers replacing. It's annoying as I decided 3 months ago to keep my handset and downgrade my contract in Dec and I do this as well as drop it down the toilet a fortnight since- now the camera doesn't work either. Evidently I need a case! One that floats! Haha.

Yesterday was quite an epic SFD I have to say. Got free lunch, free 2 rounds of drinks in the pub and free hair re-colour at my hairdressers, all in my neighbouring town. We drove the my Aunty's then walked into town. Had lunch with her, she insisted on paying, then I did the hairdressers who gave me a free full head re-colour (he loves me, I've followed him through 3 salons and he's not cheap when I do pay- £80 every 8 weeks (used to be 6)), then walked back and my Aunty asked us to join her my Uncle and cousin in her local for a couple drinks- we were set to buy the 3rd round but they only stay for 2 rounds (their little Friday catch up). So all in all a good day was had!

In behaviour news I am very pleased to say these threads and forum have made me re-evaluate my spending habits and morals. I have been struggling with a decision for a month on whether to go on the probably final UK dive trip of the season this weekend. It'd cost us £110 for the trip, £25 for cylinder hire then fuel to go to Anglesey. I'd left them hanging. In the past I'd have said f it, justified it and put it on the CC. But I have been good and told them no. Be proud, yes?

Updated my signature to reflect Oct CC payments/move arounds- did a 0% bal transfer. Not sure how well I'm doing though heading towards my CC DFD of July 2014. I see how well you lot and the likes of Kat do and think this is a reasonable time scale. I think my main thing has been stopping creating more CC debt. Unfortunately last month we added to it. That needs to be an Oct goal. The cards need cutting up I think. But then I know Oct is going to be so so difficult. It's a really tight month. Sigh.

Re my eB.ay dilemma of the guy buying the wheels then claiming his cars been robbed. I contacted him again for an update. No reply for 48hours so I've opened a dispute with him. I'll leave it to eB.ay to decide. Fingers crossed as I could really do with that £100 this coming month!

Well done on your decision fyggy, I find it so hard to say no and usually have the f it mentally as I'm already in so much debt. I've only been lurking this month and found myself making much for financially sensible decisions and have avoided using the ccard for the first time in at least 4 years :)

Keep up the good work :)

I've blown my food budget by a bit... I went shopping Friday night and spent £6 in Asda and £14.84 in Tesco, so a total of £20.84, an overspend of £8.74. I used my 0% apr CC in Tesco for the last time, I used it to top up my clubcard with £100 for my Tesco Christmas savers. I will get an extra £6 as T give you £3 for every £50 you put in. The cut off for the Christmas savers is October and they send out your vouchers in November I think. I will get back my £100, plus the £6 and also £15 in vouchers I have built up during the year, so I will have a total of £121 in vouchers to spend on Christmas food shopping, so that's December's food shop taken care of.

I have now taken my CC card out of circulation and shoved it in the back of a drawer. All I have to do now is pay it off by the end of January to avoid any interest charges.

So I worked last night, it was extra number 6 only two more to go and my normal shifts and I am there, the horrible loan will be gone by the end of November/beginning of December.

It is pay day for me on Monday, I have just checked my bank account and my pay is already showing! However I have ignored that as OMG I still have £41 in my account! I haven't had a positive balance at the end of the month for years, if I level out at £0 then I consider myself to have done well, I just can't believe it. This is the first time in my debt-busting history I have been able to pay a little extra to my debts at the end of the month. I have just paid another £20 to the loan and put £10 in to savings and still have £10 left, I am so happy.

I think you need to treat yourself with that last £10. It's a brilliant achievement. I cleanmy account out each month knowing exactly where everything is so I never have anything left but on purpose... but to be able to pay more off debts and be free in the next few months with ME is so very cool - you should be proud of yourself! :j:j:j

    Hey all...

Have had a really nice restful and reflective weekend. Thanks Kat for prompting me to look at things and re-evaluate where I'm heading with things. Thank you too, Karmachi... I have started reading 'The Slight Edge' and am really enjoying it... No more excuses huh?!? I would recommend this read to everyone. Follow Karamchi's link to the PDF. For me it's one of those life changing books!!! Awesome read. Here it is again:

So - I looked at my remaining debt. I *absolutely* and *definitely* WILL be debt free by my 42nd Birthday next November... it's very significant in Astrology for me and something I feel I need to be clear for. So, based on 14 pay days until then:

    £7284 / 14 months = £520 per month.

I've already been paying £375 on direct debit so I just need to find an extra £145. Now I've cancelled my PT that's just £65 extra to find which *is* do-able. I can't let this drag on any longer...

Have done budgets for the next 3 months too, so hopefully should be on track...

With that I'm signing off from September and going to join October's challenge!!! See you on the other side!!! Well done to everyone who fought the good fight this month too!!!

  • Happybeingme..and why not young lady..?

I'm going to be away the last week of October so thought there was no point me signing up if I couldn't complete the challenge?? The plan was to sign up for the November challenge before we go (I've got money set aside for the holiday, so although we're away for the first few days of November as long as I don't pay for anything on my card they would all be sfds).

I will join up if you don't mind me missing a week at the end though?!!
