Well i've finally managed to update the signature and it's looking healthy! Reduced my DFD by a month too :j

This freebie thing is ace, people are throwing stuff at me! Got about half my list sorted, hopefully i'll have enough petrol to get around and collect it all. I've even managed to get my hands on a free armchair which is the one I was planning to save up for from Ikea anyways, so saved myself £300 there!

Can't wait to move but got so much to do, not ideal having no time off from work either. Luckily i'm just moving roles, still in the same company, so should be able to wangle some shorter days to sort my flat out once i'm down there.

    Have a grand day everybody!

Wanted to say well done andrar :j i was so happy when i managed to take a month off my debt, feels like a huge achievement :)

And the free furniture, thats grt! I loves free stuff!!
Amazing what people give away, or sell off cheaply.

Got no idea how we are looking debt wise this month, all i know is that were still within budget as theres cash left in the pot, and we havent used the cards and that we have some money in the bank.
Will need to get my spreadsheets up to date in the next day or two to see where we are. Fingers crossed for some pennies left at the end of the month to pay off debt!

Also need to work out how im going to manage to pay off my cc debt totally this year, thats my personal goal! Not easy before xmas i know, but it would be amazing to start 2014 cc and od free!
Still here..... but working on that!
  • Maybe I will get the hang of this next month. Accounts are looking good though. I have money in them before pay day.

I have only done 8 no spend days. Its so hard when you have children, and your the only parent handing money out. I had to buy my son a coat yesterday, and my other son has grown out of all his clothes.

Can't wait to knock my debt balances down when I get paid.:T

I also have an interview this week for a full time job, and I start my Saturday job this week.

I'm going to see another free movie with sky this week. For this you just write a small report after.

  • Quick check in from me: SFD today, but the car is in the garage  it's been making funny noises for a while, and only just sent it off this morning. Parts have been ordered, but delayed due to the delivery vehicle breaking down :rotfl: No idea what the cost might be . . . fingers crossed!

Oops I haven’tchecked in for a few days!

Sat: exercised,no alcohol but spent money as it was my nephew and my sisters birthday party

Sun: noexercise, spendy day (£11) and some alcohol was consumed for sisters bday – sorry!

    Mon: SFD

Tues: LSD –had tickets to the theatre that were prebooked and spent a fiver on a glass ofwine and some snacks. Although now realising I should have been more prepared!

SFD so fartoday, no alcohol and should manage a gym session tonight.

I love thischallenge! Will def sign up for October but be a bit more strategic about it asI have found some days I am spending money on chewing gum and crisps when I couldincorporate them into the grocery shop. I’ve learnt that I spend money onsnacking which is unnecessary.

I am sopleased as I am bang on the shopping budget – just under £150 and I budgeted£50 a week – that’s down from £75 a week I was spending previously! Thank youNSK!

Totals so far, 11 spend free days for me. Which is ok I guess I seem to be having lots of low spend days. I went to London yesterday and spent a grand total of £2.24 on cake and a drink. Although failed on the train ticket, I re-realised that my rail card ran out on 3 Sept, I meant to get my ticket before that to take advantage of the 1/3 off discount but forgot so I had to pay an extra £6.80 for the ticket.

I got my garlic tablets to ward off virus' and colds. They were £1.97 for (1-a-day) 60, which is a lot cheaper than the £5.99 I pay for in a certain health shop. However, these are odour-controlled and not odourless. They are also extra strength, they are evil to take, so I take one in the morning after work when I know I will be sleeping and will have no human contact for a good few hours.

I am still on track with my shopping and misc budget, I am hoping I will have some money left over at the end of the month to make an additional payment to either the loan or CC, or a little bit in savings. I can't believe I have just typed that. My pc which has my printer attached is not working so I can't print out my Tesco coupons, but I did get money off ones in the post so I will use them tomorrow to get £4 off a £30 shop.

I have been reading with interest the article on the Barclays loan interest error. I have a Barclays loan, so I am hoping this applies to me. I took my loan out in Sept 2008 and have the very letter they sent out in Oct 2008 advising they had updated their systems.

I have checked all my statements and there is an error on my first statement, my name doesn't appear in the same place as subsequent statements.

Also, more concerning is I totalled up my interest to date and despite overpaying these past 3 months (£2125.50), I am only £142 short of paying the entire interest amount for the whole loan, despite still having £1992 left to pay. Had I not made any overpayments the loan was due to finish in December next year so there is no doubt I would have paid more interest than was in the loan agreement. I realise that at the start of the loan you pay more interest than capital and that over the course of the loan this changes, but I still think I have paid too much interest. I'll just have to wait until next month to see if I get a letter and a refund, this is going to be an agonising wait._pale_

I am working tonight, it's extra shift number 5, only 3 to go (to ensure my loan is paid off in December with or without an interest refund), as well as my normal shifts obviously, as long as I don't get ill I will be on track.

Not checked in for a few days - sorry! The 18th birthday party went well on Friday apart from there being far too much food left grrrr. 17 and 18-year-olds don't seem to eat. I suppose it takes up valuable drinking room!

Have been away in Wales since Sunday staying with DH. Had a quiet day on Sunday and also on Monday. DH plays squash so we went to the sports centre for team training in the evening. Tried to sneak into the gym but had to pay up £5 so not a NSD.

Yesterday we had a tour of the Llyn Peninsula. It was pouring with rain most of the day but hey, this is Wales! Forked out for a cup of tea late in the afternoon, but we had taken a flask and sandwiches for lunch so didn't spend on lunch. Went out for tea though, to a restaurant that does an earlybird menu which is quite a saving on the usual price. Still a treat, but I am on holiday!

We cycled over to Pen y Pass near Llanberis today to see the Tour of Britain pass through. There were hundreds of cyclists on the roads and loads of spectators too, which made for a really good atmosphere. Took lunch and a flask again but spent £5 on a race programme. Have just watched the race highlights and spotted myself on TV!

Staying in tonight having chicken casserole instead of going out again. I may indulge in another glass of wine though.

    Here are the stats:

    SFD - 6/18
    Groceries - £162/£250
    Alcohol-Free - 14/26 (2 parties and a holiday)
    Exercise - 12/12

  • Evening all. Not checked in for a few days but have managed to keep track of everything.

I had a bit of a spendy weekend - although the clothes I bought (new jeans and nice snuggly fleecey dressing gown) were from M&S and I used vouchers for them so pleased with that.

I also spent £1.55 on beauty and again I had vouchers for Boots so that was just a top-up for the vouchers.

I have bought birthday presents for my 2 nephews (toys) and my sister-in-law (chocolate). The 2 presents were 2 for £15 from Argos, and the chocolate was on special offer from Thorntons. I have also bought a weekly bus pass as the weather has been so rainy I have not been walking to work.

Oh and my car was serviced on Monday which cost £134 (but I had this money stashed away for this).

I also bought some crafty bits over the weekend - I just need to make a start on my stash of projects - most importantly Christmas cards!

I am going to take a leaf out of the Frugal Queen's book and start buying ingredients for Christmas cakes - I have already picked up a bag of dried fruit. I have been saving stamps from Morrisons throughout the year so should have a fair amount saved up for Christmas.

I did have 2 bottles of beer on Saturday night as it was the 12th anniversary of living in my house so I wanted to celebrate.

I went to the gym before work yesterday and am hoping to do some exercise before work again tomorrow.

I have not been doing too well on the SFDs so far, but hopefully will be much better next week. Am hoping to stay within all of my budgets. Updated totals are as follows:

    Food - £65.28/£100
    Misc - £93.87/£120
    Petrol - £32.40/£70
    Beauty - £1.55
    SFDs - 4

Still another 12 days until payday for me - and hoping to get a few more SFDs under my belt - and stay within my budgets.

    Will check in again tomorrow.
