Evening all.
lotti379 - didn't manage a run this morning!
fyggy - well done on your run - sounds like it was hard work.
ladymay - hope your job works out ok - you sound as if you are working really well.
It's my 3rd SFD today.
Walked to work. Packed lunch as usual. Met my dad after work and we had tea in a pub (he paid - and I had lemonade with my meal). Walked home.
Totals are as follows:
Food - £30.44/£100
Misc - £25.70/£120
Petrol - 0/£70
Really enjoying this challenge. I think now before I spend any money, and can't believe how I used to waste money. I'm definitely a hoarder - so I will be eating out of the freezer for a while longer, using up toiletries for the next couple of months, and be able to clean the bathroom for about the next 6 months!
Have a good evening everyone. Will check in again tomorrow and will hopefully have managed a run or a session at the gym0 -
Great morning spent with my nephew- love spending time with him. Will be sad when the day comes when I'm 'not cool' to hang out with so at the moment really enjoying being a 'cool auntie.'
6/18 Sfd's (1/3 of the goal achieved) \o/ Small victories!:coffee:

AnnieBox - I find it very hard to manage my spends and am toooo lazy to remember everything I've spent usually but thankfully - this month I've spent so little (relatively) - i can remember where every penny has gone so far! Thank you NSK!! :T
My recommendations - if you are having trouble budgeting because of spending don't give yourself an option - leave your wallet at home - i've done it every day this week so far and lets face it - there is very little in a normal day where you NEED money NOW!! Once you get yourself into the no-spend mentality it might be easier to budget in a wider sense and think about 'i spend this here, this here etc'?
That's a very good idea, although extremely daunting at the same time, for me it would be like going out without any pants on!
I might be brave and give this a go for the rest of the week. It can't hurt to try, thanks for the tip!Paid off my debts, saved up my cash and now I'm finally buying my own home!0 -
Quick check in after a free works dinner. Today was a spend day as we needed to get the stuff to built our garden retaining wall, used £277 of the 300 budget (bought bulk and got an additional 10% discount) for this month. The builder £ 150 wil be paid next month for what we cant do ourselves. Will catch up on posts tomorrow.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250

Exciting day today, we have babysitters so we're going to the cinema after work AND going to the theatre! I have brought a Toffee Crisp to eat at the cinema and I have a £5 McDonalds voucher (plus OH has the frappe voucher on the app) so should get to eat for free as well - hoorah!
Need to take stuff back to Primark and get DS some vests and splashproof trousers for nursery so it might be a spend day as I don't know what the difference in cost will be.

Mainly I'm just not used to having a budget, so I don't really know what is and isn't 'do-able'
Before joining these lovely forums I would just freely use all the money left over after my direct debits went out at the start of the month. I'd spend the money on whatever and and apparently I spent a lot more on food then I realised  I never made it to pay day with more than £10 in the bank before now.
I'm determined to try harder though, I've got a lot riding on the success of things like this challenge so I'm determined to do my best! And hey, recognising the problem is the first step to getting better, right :rotfl:
I am that kind of person too. Spend it all.. Food...food... food... Enjoy life. That's me! It never occurred to me that I could be spending more that what I have. All I am thinking was that payday is coming soon.Salary Loan: $16,737.42; $ 14,099.64

Today should be another SFD. Didn't bring much for lunch but it'll have to do as I'm not asking work mates for money anymore (used to when I started to not take my wallet and had withdrawal symptoms
.
AnnieBox, so yes it's weird initially not taking your wallet, but soon I got too proud to borrow money and just made sure I brought enough snacks etc with me and added up the money saved in my head (easily a fiver a day for me = £100/month of fritter money). Plus I'm quite lucky that most weeks someone leaves cake etc in the coffee room for general consumption
LAGL, sorry about the house
ladymay, I hope you got the conflicting messages from your boss vs client sorted and it all worked out well
