How many times would you wear a pair of trousers....

DD only has one work top because she's only contracted to work 4 hours a week. She does pick up extra shifts in the holidays and her work top had to be washed and dried overnight. It's a horrid fabric that looks fine but if your are prone to perspiring then it seems to hold the smell. Her work trousers she will wear for days on the trot though she does have a spare pair as they didn't originally have her size so gave her a make do pair (which fitted) while her's were on order.
When OH was in Police he had clean shirt daily and kept spares in his locker in case he wanted to change mid shift. His trousers he would wear a few days if he hadn't dealt with anything dirty. If he had blood contamination on his uniform he binned it including the laces from his boots!
I wear a clean top for work everyday but bottoms will have a few outtings (skirts or trousers).
Some people perspire more than others and myself and DD need to frequently reapply anti perspirent during the day. We have just tried the new Sure max protection - the Mitchum one brings us out in a rash. The sure is very good.

It's certainly been a bit different in the recent heat and I'm sure we're all showering and changing more often because of it. I was talking about a more normal situation.
Some people just sweat more than others. My BIL originally from a hot country never uses deodrant/anti-per and he has no body odour issues at all!

I always found that a real problem when I worked in an office, so for everyday "suits" I started buying the "easycare" variety, which could be washed regularly. I have one "best" suit which has only been worn three or four times and is twelve years old - it has never been cleaned yet, and looks and smells like new.0 -

Your telling me! I've had customers T-shirts come through and the armpits are black (in a nearly new top) and I mean black! I try to avoid that section when ironing.
Black T-shirts are the worst for holding sweat smells along with wool.

I actually dont smell bad and I shower regularly.
If people want to fire everything in the wash after a few hours of wearing thats up to them, but speaking as someone who is on a low income and cant afford to be having the washing machine on all the time, Id rather wear a T shirt twice than not.
By the way, I used to work with young people and when youve been sat in a room with someone who doesnt wash and sometimes people dont wash for more reasons than just being lazy etc, when people are suffering from depression for example, you'll know what body odour really is. Im talking about people who dont change their clothes for weeks at a time and who despite your best efforts to try and talk about how much better they would feel if they showered regularly and put on clean clothes, they wont do it. Go and sit in a room with someone who doesnt use soap for weeks at a time and then come back and tell me I smell bad
Unless someone suffers terribly from excessive perspiration, wearing something twice in a row isnt going to make them smell.
Also, what I do has no impact on anyone else. I live alone. Im not out every single day and if I work, I'll always wear fresh clothes.
Its not going to be the end of the world as we know it if I wear a T shirt twice instead of once.
Also, do people really think that 50 or 100 years ago people washed their clothes or even themselves daily? In times gone by people didnt have the convenience of a washing machine or a tumble dryer, the world didnt end although Im sure washing was much more of a chore than it is today.0 -
2 days max.
That said I put clothes on to leave the house and usually take them off when I get home (I wear pjs) due to constantly being covered in child grot
Talking about 'going-out' trousers - me too, so I wear trousers maybe 4 to 5 hours at a time.
I'll maybe have a pair of jeans that I'll wear for an hour or so at a time to pop up to the shops. I might wear them 3 or 4 times but not for a long time each time.
But, if I'm doing a wash, I'll collect together all clothes that have been worn - even if only once.I change underwear daily
Me too. I put clean knickers on every morning and if I'm going out, I'll put another pair on after I've had a shower.
If I'm not going out, I'll have a shower first thing in the morning.0 -
