soo- those who wash more infrequently- what do you do with the worn/unwashed items?? :)
are they kept separate to clean clothes in wardrobes?
worn continuously until ready to be washed?

They'll generally get hung over a chair in my bedroom. But Ive got 2 built in wardrobes and a built in cupboard with 3 lots of shelves, so I have plenty of space to store clothes.

My husband bought a pair of very expensive fancy jeans and the care label attached to them says you should wash them as infrequently as you possibly can!

So...is he going to maintain the colour of the jeans by not washing them...or will they walk home on their own one day?

It's not just the financial cost but the environmental one. All that water and electricity being used and all the washing products going into the environment. You'd think that people would be more aware of these issues by now.

I try and be as environmentally friendly as I can be, I use eco balls, Ive used soap pods before and if I use a detergent I use bio d which is pretty gentle.

But yes, when I do wash clothes I tend to wash enough to keep me going for some time (bearing in mind I live alone and Im washing for me only), certainly dont have the washing machine on every day.
  • Everything except for jumpers and jeans, one wear only.

Jumpers, two or three wears, unless I've got too hot.

Jeans, depending upon how well they display the cat fluff, what the weather's been like and which ones they are - two wears for skinny ones, but the loose cut, torn ones with bleach marks for my more punk days, well, I can get a week out of them no problem. :)

They get all get washed with the soap powder sold in the 99p shop, no conditioner and I don't smell.

i dont even know how often my jeans are washed could be a week or two but i dont wear them every day in a row as like some variety. However with a spewy baby i sometimes have to wash more than once a day :(

I agree with tops being washed after every wear, they just dont feel fresh if they are worn twice to me. If i have only worn it an hour or two at night though i will probably wear again.

As for leggings i wear them a few times, and underwear etc washed every time. Bras maybe every 3 days though.

Now how often do you wash towels? i feel i spend all my time washing towels, i try and aim to use them 2 days in a row but sometimes they end up in the wash every time which i feel is a bit excessive!

Why would you need somewhere to put clothes after one wear? That seems strange to me, I wear something for the few days or week and then it goes in the wash. I've never come across wear something one and not wear it the next day or wash it.

I think the suggestion was that the not so sweetly smelling clothes might somehow make the fresh clothes smell a bit, like if you wear something once and its a bit pongy it might make the clothes that are sweeter smelling a bit whiffy, so you wouldnt want to hang them up together.

    Seriously? Kept separate?

Honestly, I'd never even thought of that as an option.

The clothes are clean enough that I'll wear them again, so I don't really have concerns about germs jumping from the worn clothes to the clean clothes...I don't think they need to be kept in quarantine until they're washed again...How bizarre.

So you're really going to take something off that smells *so bad* that the smell would permeate other clothes if left nearby and think "yep, I'll wear that again"? I just don't follow at all.

No, I wouldnt, but the poster who asked obviously had a reason asking why if you would keep the worn clothes away from the clean ones.

I think to the people who never wear an item of clothes twice it might be a bit odd all round, not washing after every wear.
