Gosh I can't believe how long some people wear their clothes for without washing them! I wash jeans/trousers after 2 wears max, underwear/socks daily, skirts 2-3 wears, jackets/cardigans maybe 3 weekly.

There is nothing worse than the smell of unwashed clothes - I really notice it on a couple of my colleagues and also on people on the train in the morning.

And I would never wear the same clothes to work on consecutive days - nothing worse than being accused of being a dirty stop out ;)

Jeans were designed to be work wear. Do you think the cowboys of Monatana, after a long day hauling !!! across the plains and mountains, get in, shriek 'omg I'm so filthy I must wash these jeans, I hope they dry by morning or I'm going to have to take another day off, I can't go in with dirty clothes on'?

There is nothing worse than the smell of unwashed clothes, but those clothes would need to be unwashed for quite some time I would think or someone would have to have a pretty bad BO problem

Someone got on the bus yesterday and she didnt smell good, not a BO smell but a horrible musty smell and it was coming from her clothes. I dont think theres any way a jacket would smell like that if you didnt wash it for a week, it would be weeks, its been a long time since anyone has sat near me on public transport and they've smelled that bad. It wasnt nice. But I dont think as I said, unless someone has a really bad perspiration issue, clothes would smell like that (and even then Im not sure as the smell from her clothes was like an old smell if that makes sense)

Then someone got on smelling of soap, it was a very strange sensation with someone sitting in front of me who smelled musty or at least their clothes did and someone behind me smelling like a persil advert.

I wouldnt give a hoot if someone thought I was a dirty stop out. Lots of people wear jeans, trousers, skirts on consecutive days at work, doesnt mean they have stayed out over night, means theyve worn the same thing two days in a row

We all have different opinions on this and thats totally fine.

It always amuses me on TV programmes when great play is made of people wearing the same as yesterday. :rotfl:

    Really ?
I was wondering why remembering how you instigated a big religious marriage thread .... Is it OK if they work for the same office just not if they work for rival companies then ? ;)

I normally start the day in dog walking clothes (jeans in the winter, cargo trousers in summer, T Shirt (with fleece and/or jacket in winter). Then I get home and change into housework clothes. If I go out I change into going out clothes. I will change into dog walking clothes again later afternoon/evening. Usually the dog walking and housework clothes get washed once a week.

And I was marvelling at how much time you spend each day on changing clothes LOL

How are jeans or cargo shorts NOT housework clothes ? What ARE housework clothes ?? Enquiring minds need to know :)
(Perhaps you should try my OH's housework outfit -no clothes at all ......Good thing the garden isn't overlooked much I've had to stop him hanging out washing in the buff before now LOL)

Mine are comfy jersey trousers (the yoga or harem type) and old T shirts/vests These clothes are far too scruffy now to be seen out in but perfect for doing housework in as I can move freely in them and it doesn't matter if they were to get a bit of bleach or mucky bits from baking on. They still get washed after one wear though :rotfl:

    I have housework/slobbing-round-the-house clothes too.

Mine are old shorts in the summer, old leggings in the winter with T-shirts & a jumper in the winter.

I also have my lounging-round-the-house clothes - this is after I've come home or after I've finished prepping the dinner.
These are leggings/trousers/tops too good for 'housework' or long dresses too unfashionable or too old to wear out (summer).

    I like getting changed.

I have shoes for different purposes too.

I wear a pair of trekking sandals (summer), trainers (winter) during the day if I'm at home.
A podiatrist told me never to wear slippers as they have no support.
If I go out I choose from my massive collection , depending on the weather and what I'm wearing.

At home in the evening, I wear a pair of flat leather sandals in the summer and a pair of short Kiwi (sheepskin) boots in the winter.

    Works for me. ;)
  • You aren't meant to wash jeans too much unless they are actually stained because it affects the colour. Instead you can freshen them up and kill bacteria by putting them in the freezer!

It wasn't me that instigated that thread. I was one of those who gave my response.

    Is what OK?

I don't feel the need to change night-wear every day is the answer to that question.

Simplest answer to nightwear is not to wear any ;).

Do like Marilyn Monroe and just wear Chanel No 5. :rotfl:

Or if on a smaller budget, Avon. ;)
