Now, I will wait another week, if still no sign of the cheques deposit, I have to contact the cheques issuers.
No, not recommand this account!!!!
You can imagine there will be another problem when I try to close the account.
You posted your application on the 16th July? It's only the 20th today! When I applied online on the 25th June they asked for 12 days to process my application. If it's true that they are receiving 18,000 applications a week, don't you think customers should give them a little leeway?
Was the Sainsbury's Bank pre-paid envelope 1st or 2nd class? One more point, your cheque will barely have had time to clear. I've always found the Bank of Scotland team who run Sainsbury's Bank to be very helpful.
I just feel that you are not being fair to them.0 -

The bloke checked the verification and said it had all been done electronically and that they would send out a new letter that I had to sign and return to them. BUT he also said that he would remove the "awaiting authorisation" marker and that that would be gone in about 2 hours. A couple of hours later and I can make use of the account properly. Not sure why they could do that for me but no for the rest of you?!0

I don't think you understand what I meant or I didn't express myself clear. My account have been running. I just posted my cheques to them for deposit using their 1st class pre-paid envelope. Should it be appeared on my account by now since I posted it on 16 July??!!
Maybe you should try it out....0 -
I'm a bit confused after reading this post.
I opened my Sainsbury's online account on 14 July (last Saturday).
Despite being informed at the time that the account would take up to 12 days to be activated/verified etc, I received two letters on 17 July (Tuesday).
I straight away activated the account. Was instantly able to view online.
Just waiting for my cheque to clear now.Mortgage Free in Three - number 94

meme, I also received two letters. We should have received 3, third one being a verification letter to sign and return. I also activated my account and can view online up to a point ( ie balance of £1) but can't get in properly as the status is "awaiting verification"0

sav4it - obviously see what happens next week but it may really be down to the royal mail. I'm still waiting for a letter that was sent 1st class on saturday morning (yes it was definitely sent - my mother doesn't lie!).
I'm just saying to give them the benefit of the doubt. Personally I've had a credit card, and instant access saver ever since they started up, and opened an internet saver a year ago and have never had any problems with them.1st April 2008 challenge:mad: xmas overspend = [strike]£254.05[/strike] £0:j......cc1 = [strike]£240.78[/strike] £0:j .......cc2 = [strike]£667.47[/strike] £0 :j ...amount owed to ISA = [strike]£1599.90[/strike] £0:jTOTAL TO GO = [strike]£2762.20[/strike] £0 !!! DONE IT DONE IT DONE IT!!!:dance:0 -

This is what happened to me too, in the end! I complained three times over the phone about how long the process was taking and they said they would remove 'the marker'. They did this and my account is working without me having to sign any letter - odd anyway to have to do this, since I've opened accounts before and haven't had to sign any letters. :cool:0 -

OK, this was not you original deposit accompanying your application it was a subsequent deposit. I can only suggest that if the 1st class envelope took 2 days to arrive at BoS HQ in Edinburgh & they need 3 clear working days to process your cheques then you are looking Tuesday next week. If the cheques arrived last Tuesday then the cheques should be credited to your account on Monday. Let us know what happens.0 -

It is a bit silly. It is not my first time to deal with any banks.
If my cheques were arrived at Bos HQ even said 2 days after I posted them on 16 Jul, it should appear on my account 18 Jul, or even now?! I don't think I need to wait untill they are clear! Silly....
Well, blame the Royalmail then...
By the way, Thomas, are you in Manhattan? hmmm....thanks for your advice!0 -
Ok, I'll get off my high horse now.Letter dated 11th July arrived this morning and immediately returned( original or duplicate. Who knows?)
Will have to wait and see how long it takes to process it now.0
