Sainsburys 6% Internet Saver

have recently moved savings from National Counties Building Soc. a/c which had lower interest AND required 90 days notice to Sainsburys BUT it cost me £25.00 (otherwise at least 3 days lost interest).
SO, just how many times is it worth moving money for better interest when hidden costs are taken into account please, Martin?0 -

Yes it is.0 -
Apologies if this issue has come up before, but I don't have time to read through the whole thread...
You need to know: SAINSBURY'S INTERNET SAVER CANNOT BE OPERATED IF YOU HAVE A MAC COMPUTER
Crazy or what?
I went to all the trouble of registering, getting the bumf through the post, tried to activate account, wouldn't accept password...
Girl on helpline then tells me Sainsburys Saver will not work on Macs. Millions of customers then go elsewhere. How stupid is this??? Furious.0 -

Does anyone know why not?
By coincidence I'm just in the process of leaving the Evil Empire of Micro$oft (moving to Ubuntu Linux) and have also just applied for a Sains Internet Saver. If it's a browser issue and the account will only work with M$ Internet Explorer then I may have a problem...
Does anyone here currently access their Sains Internet account using Mozilla Firefox?0 -
Hi. I'm using Mozilla Firefox on a Mac - that's how the issue came up. The helpline girl checked with her supervisor, who confirmed that Saver a/c won't work on Mac computers.
So, either her supervisor has made a mistake, or this is an Advertising Standards issue - adverts for the account should make it crystal clear that Mac-users cannot apply. Sainsbury's had no problem accepting my registration on a Mac, so what is the problem with having an account?
The result is I've wasted a lot of time, and they've wasted a lot of paper sent to me in the post.0 -

Yep it does look like it.... Only reference to System requirements anywhere (yes that includes the T&C's in the sign up box. You know the bit that nobody ever reads) are listed next to the Demo of the online banking and well frankly the Accessibility Statement at the bottom of every page....... Windows only...... Still it's a logical assumption on your behalf, with a relatively new operator in this day and age...... Do I get a slap for saying always read the small print? I still think you have a point though.
Mental..... FD, won't work in Firefox and they have a statement about Macs soon.... That's pitiful also but at least it's plastered on the home page
Perhaps it's a case of they know you ain't got any money left anyway, after you've bought a MAC, or are MAC owners just poor people, or artists/designers who aren't so fussed with such worldly matters of money.....0 -
That's a real pain if Sainsburys have implemented something that will only work with IE!
Poussis: Although unlikely, is it possible that the default installation of Firefox on a Mac is a bit more restrictive in terms of Java, Javascript and popup windows? Might be worth looking at Preferences, Content and checking to see what's enabled?
Oh, just had a thought - perhaps they've used ActiveX, which IIRC doesn't work properly (or at all?) under Firefox?0 -

Poussis, I think you've been given a bum steer from the helpline. You can access the Sainsbury's internet saver account no problem on a Mac using Firefox. I've just done it. What they don't provide is any tech support if anything goes awry. Their helpline has given you the wrong info.
Hope this helps.0 -
Well I would dearly love to access my £1 if only they would send me a flippin letter to sign! Grr0
