I tried to add a current account on the sainsbury bank internet saver website. It won't let me add it, I rang sainsbury and they said, I can't transfer a high street bank e.g barclays to sainsbury bank online. It has to be done through cheque or transfer at e.g barclays bank.
Is this true? I was told by some other person on the phone that I can transfer online?
I have sent recent bank statements, and they said I need to wait up to 10 days to get my sainsbury internet saver verified. Does it need to be verified before I can add an current account? or I can't transfer online?
Anyone know?
Thanks0 -
Not sure what you are trying to do here?
You can only add Sainsbury's accounts to Sainsbury's Online banking. Sainsbury's don't do a current account.
If you simply mean that you want to transfer money from your current account (with say Barclays) to your Sainsbury's Internet Saver, you can do this online.
However what you need to do is login to your Barclays current account with Barclays Online banking. You then set up a payment to another bank by putting in your Sainsbury's account details. It will take around 3 days to transfer from Barclays to Sainsbury's.

Who is your current account with?
Before you posted, I rang Sainsbury a 2nd time, and they bascially told me what you just said. One final question, is if I want to transfer money out of Sainsbury Internet Saver to my Barclays current account. How do I do this?
Thanks, current account is with Abbey by the way0 -

Once your Sainsbury's account is up and running plus you have made an ititial deposit, you create a Payment Mandate by entering your current account details. After that you select Make a payment from the drop down menu. Thanks, current account is with Abbey by the way
Presumably you have Online Banking with Abbey?0 -

Theres a £1 showing on the Sainsbury bank internet saver website. Theres only add or remove account on the screen at the moment. I assume once my personal detail has been verified, there would be more options on the screen allowing me to transfer out?
I have a e-saver with abbey, I think that is different to online banking?0 -

Once it's activated you will be able to access all the other options.I have a e-saver with abbey, I think that is different to online banking?
Sorry I thought you said your current account was with Abbey - perhaps you meant current is in that's who you are with now.
If it's an e-saver you are presumably able to access it online? That's what I meant by online banking.
So is your current account( as in type of account) with Barclays? Is that who you will be doing the transfers with?0 -

I have an Abbey current account and an Abbey E-saver. I can access the E-saver online.
All is clear now, thanks0 -
Sent my cheques to Sainsbury bank on 16 July using their returned envelope (1st class), it is 18 July now, still no sign of showing on my account.0

I have had absolute nightmares with this Sainsburys Internet saver
There's a lot of how shall we say vitriol there, but what actually happened?
You'd paid a cheque in then tried transfering it out, but the cleared funds weren't the same at the the available funds, so it all went pear shaped. Is that what happened?
Something may have gone hideously wrong, it may have been their fault even, but are you sure about some of the adjectives you were using there!
A lot of us are using the account successfully (well, I can't at the moment because I forgot one of the multiple security words, so another letter on it's way.
You have to remember with this one though that one can shift the money out to any other account. This is unlike say ICICI, whereby it's to one linked accound only, so that in itself offers security, but double the BACS time and inconvenience for feeding Regular Savers etc), so we may be able to help you..
This if we were in possession of perhaps a few more facts and might I say, slightly less hyperbole!0 -
