Well I would dearly love to access my £1 if only they would send me a flippin letter to sign! Grr
I'm still waiting after 4 weeks for 'verification', despite three lengthy phone calls in which I was assured that the account would be up and running the next day!
Seems as though they don't particularly care about having customers . . .
Oh, and I do use a Mac, by the way, and managed to open an account successfully and deposit £10 into it online, which shows up as being in the account. I don't use Firefox, but Northern Rock also can't cope with Mac users, apparently unless they have the very latest operating system, above OS X 10.2. It is possible that the same is the case with the Sainsbury account. All my passwords work successfully with the Sainsbury's account. Just a shame Sainsbury's can't benefit from my use of the account due to their incompetence.0 -
I have been a customer of Sainsbury's Bank for several years & I have a credit card & an Instant Access Savings Account.
I applied to open an Internet Savings Account on th 25th June & I transferred the opening deposit from the Inst.Acc account. Since then I have received a book of paying in slips through the post & the account appears to be up & running because the drop down menu with options to 'Transfer Money', 'Close Account' etc. is apparently functioning.
However, I have not received a 'Welcome Pack' or other communication. Has anyone else waited so long for a proper acknowledgement from Sainsbury's Bank?0 -
I had a nightmare with Sainsbury's Bank - opened the saver account and then 4 months later it still wasn't verified despite everything I did. They even, at one point, told me to fax my stuff down which I did, then got ANOTHER letter (about 4 by now) saying I hadn't complied with anti money laundering regulations. After a couple of really difficult telephone calls I eventuall called it a day and moved my money out.
I might try Icesave instead.0 -
Well, at last! I checked my Sainsburys account and lo and behold, it is now active! Let's now see if I can transfer in and out successfully!
They told me during one of our conversations that they were receiving 18,000 applications a week.0 -
You must have been one stage further than me Sapphire. I haven't even got the letter that needs to be sent back. Not good enough.0

I am considering to close the account now. Sent my cheques on 16 July using their envelope, no sign of it yet. I am sure if I call them, they will say, they haven't recevied it. (blame on royal mail)
Now, I will wait another week, if still no sign of the cheques deposit, I have to contact the cheques issuers.

I could only see "Awaiting Confirmation" on the screen, so fed up of waiting since 27 June I rang. I was told I had been cleared electronically and that by the end of the day (i.e. yesterday) the tag would be removd. It was and now I can see my account properly. I was told a letter had been sent on the 4th July and many people who were also sent letters around that date i.e. the postal strike, has disrupted things, so a duplicate is being sent for me to sign and send back. It's amazing how a one day strike can have a 14 day or so knock on effect. So it's probably worth a ring, to see if you have been cleared anyway.0

If you set it up just as "An account with another bank" it will take the normal 3/4 days to go through. If you set it up as "Transfer to another account with us" it will go through instantly.
Sainsbury's to HBOS will go through overnight.
Re the highlighted part of the quote, what happens if you do the transfer on a Friday? does it have to wait until Monday,i.e. "working days".Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
Signed up for sainsburys internet saver in march and i use a Mac powerbook G4 using safari browser here and have never had any problems getting the account to work,transfer money etc without a hitch...:T :T :T0

Not quite sure how this worked but a couple of hours ago I phoned them up to query an account that I opened about 2 weeks ago that I had not had the letter I need to sign to get the account authorised. The bloke checked the verification and said it had all been done electronically and that they would send out a new letter that I had to sign and return to them. BUT he also said that he would remove the "awaiting authorisation" marker and that that would be gone in about 2 hours. A couple of hours later and I can make use of the account properly. Not sure why they could do that for me but no for the rest of you?!0
