Jack saying goodbye to his bits

You had made your decision before you posted & wasted everyones time.... good luck anyway.
Just to clarify why I thanked this post..I don't think people's time was wasted, we all chose freely to post and reply after all.
However I do think the decision was pretty much already made and from that point of view, it was daft some of us bothering too much.
Thing is though, 'tis not our mutt and if the mutt's owner is happy with the decision then that's where the matter ends. I don't think it's fair to chastise someone for not taking our advice. (Even although I still think she's wrong and she should.:D)

Thank you meritaten.
Paradigm, I had not made my decision before I posted. When someone mentioned chemical castration I asked my vet about that, and listened to his advice that he didn't feel it would work for Jack.
Sorry if you feel your time was wasted.0 -
Jack's at the vet's now. I have to ring at 3pm to see what time I can pick him up0

How is he zaksmum? have you picked him up yet?
I remember picking up my 'female dog' after she got spayed and she was soooooo pleased to see us she peed a lake in reception!
she was still a bit groggy, but so pleased to be home! Thirsty but not hungry til next day, when we couldn't seem to fill her up!0 -

He's ok thanks meritaten. Very groggy when we picked him up as - despite having his pre med sedative at 10am - he didn't go to theatre till nearly 4.
He was absolutely starving when he got home but struggled to eat with his lampshade on. I had to take it off for him to have his dinner. He hates it.
He doesn't seem to want to drink yet though and hasn't had a poo.
I'm keeping him nice and quiet till his check up tomorrow.
Thanks for caring.0 -
Poor wee lamb, lol.
Suppose it's a bit late now but you can get an inflatable collar which is much better than the lampshade and dogs tolerate it more. How long does he need to keep it on?Herman - MP for all!0 -

I know...my poor little boy:( he's looking at me all pitiful and just wants the thing off.
I didn't know you could get inflatable collars. Does the vet have them or will I need to buy one? Any idea where I might get one?
The one he has is taking several layers of skin off my legs every time he passes me, it's so stiff and sharp edged, and he's lifting his legs up to walk like a horse in a show.
Thanks aliasojo0 -
Some vets do keeps stock...mine doesn't but he will order in, in advance for when it will be needed.

Thanks, I had never heard of an inflatable collar, but think it could be answer to all my 'what to do with the dog' problems.
My local kennelgate has them in stock, I have just been there to buy one!0 -
Thanks aliasojo and any name will suffice.
The Amazon one looks brilliant but I wouldn't get it in time for it to benefit Jack because of their delivery times. He should be rid of the lampshade by around Sunday.
I need somewhere in local shops that stocks them but can't seem to find anywhere.
I'll ring the vet now and see if they have any.0
