Jack saying goodbye to his bits

tbh - I don't think his 'bits' being removed will in any way affect his protectiveness towards you. It certainly didn't with my female dogs! both of them remained very protective of me and the kids - but both of them thought that OH could take care of himself!!!!!!!!!!!!
You're probably right but I wasn't too worried about his protectiveness towards me. In one way it was reassuring when, say, a druggie would come over to me and ask for money.
Jack would get between me and the druggie, not growling or anything but his fur would start to come up and the druggie would leave me alone.
I'm hoping that the op will mean he won't be attacked by out of control dogs with no owner in sight - because he won't smell male to them any more - and if he's not attacked he won't fight.0 -
I see what you are saying - if Jack 'smells' calmer and less aggressive then the others will leave him alone! Yes, that sounds feasible!
the other dogs would smell the 'testosterone - if that's what dogs give off', no smell no fight!0 -

That's exactly it meritaten. The aggressive dogs never seem to attack my neighbour's dogs who were neutered some time ago. We can be in the park walking all the dogs together and if there's a dog racing over to us looking for trouble you can bet it will be Jack it will attack.
A bit of bum sniffing then the dog will get on Jack's back in that dominance thing and all hell breaks loose while the other neutered male dogs are ignored. The attacking dog gets way more than it bargained for from Jack and my nerves are shredded once again.
So if all that hassle stops it will be a blessing and I will know for sure I have done the right thing.0
