Responding to medism, no, I have not had a CardGuard questionnaire from CPP.0

I contacted CPP re Identity Protection policy from 2005 and asked for claim form as I believe it was miss sold. I was told that the call I received was from a Company called JIGSAW INSURANCE and I therefore had no claim against CPP. It seems that JIGSAW INSURANCE did not subscribe to the compensation scheme so I am unable to make a claim. CPP were unable to provide any contact details for JIGSAW. If anyone has had a similar experience I would be very grateful for feedback. Thank you.0

I think Medism meant from HSBC (as I did indeed get a questionnaire from HSBC following getting in touch with them).
I suspect that when a large number of complaints are anticipated, all based around a similar theme, then they produce a questionnaire to help the mass processing of claims. Wading through individual letters, which may or may not contain all the necessary information, could add considerable time and effort. They did this with PPI too.0 -
Hello all
I was sold CPP when I took out a credit card with Natwest pre-2005. I'm not sure exactly when as it was such a long time ago. I cancelled it some years later when a friend told me it was superfluous - seeing as banks cover fraud. I remember the cancellation of policy telephone conversation to this day as i found it remarkable the aggression with which the sales person dealt with my request to cancel. It was almost threatening in tone, and had I been slightly less resolved I might have caved and renewed instead. Knowing it was just a script, however, I waved it off and congratulated myself on weathering the confrontation.
I have no record what period I took out the cover, but know I did as I am amongst those issued with the CPP compensation correspondence - inviting me to claim. I do wish to make a claim but know that most of my cover was pre-2005 - which the CPP people are not including in the compensation.
What can I do to ascertain exactly when I took out the cover - I have no records. Also, what is the best route by which to pursue this claim.
Thank you to anyone who can assist.0 -
Just phone Natwest up and ask them when you first took it out. Whilst you are there you might as well ask if there's a formal process set up to deal with pre-2005 CPP-related issues (e.g. some banks send a questionnaire out) or whether you should just send an ad-hoc complaint in.0

Hi
We were missold CPP before 2005 and it renewed after 2005 so I have a claim form which I'm filling in. Does anyone know whether we can claim for missold CPP before 2005 as well if we already have a form.
I've kept all the documents. We cancelled the policy a couple of years ago and they were very aggressive even rude on the phone saying we wouldn't be covered etc.
Thanks0 -

Yes write to the bank for pre 2005 .
CPP are dealing with the complaints after this time .Light travels faster than sound.
This is why some people seem as bright until you hear them.0 -
Hi, I need some advice regarding claiming for mis-sold cpp prior to 2005. I took out CPP with Cardguard in 1995 and renewed it annually. I thought I had taken it out with Midland Bank, but HSBC say it was purchased directly from CPP. I therefore registered a complaint with them and have today received a letter from them stating that they have investigated my complaint and that compensation is due, but only for the period between 7.1.04 and 13.1.05. (ie. £40.43) They say that I am not due compensation for premiums before 7.1.04 because CPP was not subject to agreed industry standards prior to that date. Is there any point taking this to the Financial Ombudsman Service?0

Interesting that the scheme appear to be going back a year earlier than the time CPP became regulated, and so including the prior year when a code of conduct was in place. Or did you complain to CPP Ltd, outside of the scheme?0
