Are you expecting somebody to tell you do something illegal and/or immoral?

If you wish to claim that you were mis-sold the insurance, you must know that you had it. Not knowing you had the insurance is not a valid reason for claiming it was mis-sold.

(I hope your forum username is not something like your surname, otherwise CPP, who almost certainly monitor forums like these will flag this up on your account straight away!)

How very patronising - and as for "immoral" I nearly choked on my coffee. :rotfl:

I'm just pondering over my CPP claim form, and looking at the template statement on the site. I can't actually remember taking out the CP plan, I was completely surprised to get a letter! Can I still claim if I can't remember? I'm guessing I can't, legitimately...

I very much doubt that they sent you a claim form if you had never taken out a policy.

If you read again, you'll see it wasn't a question about whether a policy had been taken out; that is in no doubt about that as a claim form was received. The question was whether they should claim if they don't recall taking out the policy.

I have been paying for CPP with HSBC since 2000. The new scheme will authorise claims and compensation since 2005. I read on this website that I can complain to the bank directly for the period before 2005 by sending a letter to them. Martin has kindly provide forms for it.

Should I wait until I get the money back from the scheme for the period 2005-2013 and then complain to HSBC for the period 2000-2005? Wouldn’t it be strange if in my complain letter to HSBC I write that I want compensation for the period 2000 -2005 since I had the policy from 2000 until 2013?

Could you help me please? I am a little bit confused of what I need to send to the bank regarding the earlier period.

    Many thanks for your help.

You should write to the bank now and just explain what you're claiming for and why. They will know about the CPP Redress Scheme.

    Hi , this is from

“I did not know I had a policy – is this still relevant to me?

Yes. Our records confirm that you bought a policy and so you may be entitled to compensation”

My daughter phoned to see when she had taken out the policy on her Barclaycard as she didn’t realise/had forgotten she had a policy and is using one of the reasons for mis sale as listed on the form she received.

    Almost certainly? Without a doubt?
  • No, I didn't; but I kept a copy of the completed form. I will ring them first, and if they say they never received it then i'll request a new form.
Called them and the agent confirmed that they did receive my claim form, and to give it at least 8 weeks. Relief...
  • Hi - I've received one of the letters to claim for compensation & after having done a bit of belated filing, have found a letter dated 2002 from CPP when I have taken out a policy. From reading other threads, does this mean that as well as claiming for compensation from CPP I can also claim from my bank for pre 2005?

Does the claim form have to be completed in hand writing or may I put the claim form in a computer printer?

Does it have to be in capitals even if from a computer?

The process does not feel accessible!
