I filled out a claim form and sent it back. I guess all I can do is wait now.

Still no idea what cards this was for but oh well I got the letters.

    Hi,
I have sent off my claim form to CPP for insurance claims post 2005. I have also contacted Marks and Spencer regarding my insurance with them through Card Safe from 1992-2005.
I was asked to fill in their questionnaire and they said they would contact me.
Today I received a reply stating that they were unable to uphold my complaint. Some of the reasons given were:

I had 14 days cooling off time to cancel ( I did telephone what I thought was Marks and Spencer's and was persuaded that I needed the insurance otherwise I would be liable if my cards were lost/stolen)The cooling off time is now 60 days.

The insurance covered me for up to £50 per card prior to notification and any amounts that I am held liable for up to a total of £1000 (thought I was already covered by my bank?)

That the £100,000 to cover transactions after notification of card loss had been removed-they were never needed anyway?

That CPP had overstated the fraud benefit after 2005 but when I took out the insurance in 1992 through Marks and Spencer Money the literature was clear, fair and not misleading??

I must admit the insurance did also cover emergency cash advances, replace travel tickets. passports, driving license and replace locks and keys.

However, I am going to contact the Ombudsman as I feel that Marks and Spencer introduced me to CPP products and their misleading insurance cover and should share responsibility for putting things right.

I will keep you informed of what happens!

I'm just pondering over my CPP claim form, and looking at the template statement on the site. I can't actually remember taking out the CP plan, I was completely surprised to get a letter! Can I still claim if I can't remember? I'm guessing I can't, legitimately...

Are you expecting somebody to tell you do something illegal and/or immoral?

If you wish to claim that you were mis-sold the insurance, you must know that you had it. Not knowing you had the insurance is not a valid reason for claiming it was mis-sold.

(I hope your forum username is not something like your surname, otherwise CPP, who almost certainly monitor forums like these will flag this up on your account straight away!)

Is there a way of rating threads as the most depressing on this forum?

I think these would be more likely to have a valid claim on life insurance rather than card protection :)
