I just called them today and got straight through (10.45am).

Gah! I don't even get a ringtone. Just a looped message from the BT lady...

EDIT: worked on my mobile.. how strange.
  • Hi,
Can anyone advice me, I want to claim from CPP for a policy that I have since 1993 and take out a policy that gives me the same cover that I have with HSBC Card Guard with CPP for just £31 per year
This forum is not to give advice on alternative cover. If you still want the type of insurance offered by CPP then on what basis are you complaining that CPP was mis-sold to you?

I have received my claim form from CPP and am still not sure what to put in Section B. Can I put the fact that I felt I was pressured into having this policy when I rang to register or activate one of my cards plus also add the bit about it saying I would be covered for up to £100,000 ...... I cant remember how long I have been paying this now, I did use the stickers and things from them but that was only because I was told I needed this policy although I have never had to claim anything from them.

You can put whatever you want to in there as it's your form to claim why you think you should be entitled to compensation.
In addition, the form itself actually tells you the reasons why they think you might be entitled so if it's applicable, then that's the reason. Also, the link I posted earlier shows some reasons that may be applicable and how you would write that in the form. I can't see what else can be done for you.

I agree with message you are criticising - I would like to claim for missold cover (since 2005) and would also like to organise new cover which PARTIALLY replaces old. The difference is that the old cover included erroneous claims about unnecessary pre and post notification cover. The new cover I want is that offered by CPP since 2011 when they realised the errors of their ways - including elements like one phone call to replace all cards. In other words would be tempted by cover NOW offered by CPP. I get the impression I am not alone in this view.

Clearly the way the redress scheme works is to give one full refund since 2005 including since 2011 and I see no reason to forego any of compensation, which is in effect a penalty applied to CPP for their past errors. On other hand the service generally offered is attractive apart from the original wrong claims and apart from the relatively high price. I am tempted after my claim is resolved and cover cancelled to contact them and attempt to haggle a new deal, but wonder about any drawbacks and ideally about any competitors.

I disagree; it is not a penalty for their past errors. It is compensation for the consumer, if and only if they believe they were mis-sold the policy. You are under no obligation and it is not mandatory to claim compensation.

Just wondering though, have CPP give any estimation of how long they will take to process the claims they receive?
Think I saw a time frame of up to 8 weeks somewhere in my letter. I do not know if this is the time within which one should expect to receive an initial response to sending in a claim or how long it will take to get a cheque in the post.

It's a non-refundable fee you paid in order to use the card. On what basis would you expect a refund if you actually used the card?
I just didn't know what it was, and wondered if it was some sort of card protection.
I haven't used a credit card for 13+ years and can't remember that far back.
