How long does it usually take to hear back, once you have sent the form off???As the end of August is looming.Cheers.
Have you checked they've received it?
I sent mine off ages ago & never heard anything - conscious of the deadline, I phoned at the end of July and, after they checked my details, they hadn't received my forms
New ones were sent - duly completed & I've returned them recorded delivery so I know they've been received

Hi all! New to this forum (and loving this site!)
Anyhow, filled out CPP form today and followed template on here. To be fair, the company had already listed some of the 'unfair' rules. Thing is (call me financially inadequate!) I wasn't sure of the reason I had it on my Marks and Spencer credit card in the first place. Just went with 'said it would protect me against fraudulent use' line.
Hope this works.0 -
I too had my complaint to HSBC for the pre-2005 policy cover rejected and whilst the letter did come across as a boilerplate response and rather dismissive I recognise that they are likely being inundated with complaints and hence some streamlining is inevitable.
However, of more concern is that I believe that one element of their defence was a mistruth. Given that this is quite an accusation it is only right I justify it -
Specifically, the response stated 'When you took out the policy it also covered you for fraudulent activity that occurred between the time of your call to Cardguard and the time they managed to contact all your individual card issuers on your behalf. [...] However, this element of cover was not needed so to simplify the product we removed the cover specifically for transactions which occur after you have reported the card loss.'
However, I have obtained a copy of the Cardguard Policy Holder's Guide, dating back to 1998 (the year I took the policy out), and it quite clearly states the following as a policy benefit: 'Cover of up to £1000 against unauthorised card use prior to notification. Unlimited cover thereafter'. (My emphasis)
Hence, contrary to what their response says, the policy was advertised as including cover for post-notification transactions and this cover being unlimited. However, as per the FSA's comment on the matter, such cover was completely nugatory and of no value whatsoever given there is no liability once cards have been reported missing.
On the basis that I do not feel my complaint has been fairly considered, and that the rationale for them not upholding the complaint appears to be at least partially incorrect, I have submitted a complaint to the ombudsman as per due process for an independent view.
To follow up on my referral to the ombudsman I am pleased to report that the FOS have today advised me that HSBC have offered to reimburse all my premiums paid prior to 2005 (back to 1998 when the cover started) plus 8% interest.
Given this complete about-turn on the part of HSBC I can't help but feel that it was the process of going via the FOS that led to such a different result to that previously received although it would be interesting to hear if any current direct claims to HSBC are now also being responded to equally positively. A change of strategy perhaps given how unfavourably they were appearing compared with other banks?
On the basis of this success I would encourage anyone else who had a pre-2005 claim against HSBC rejected to raise it with the FOS for an independent view. Don't be put off by the pessimists claiming an 12-18 month lead time - mine was all done and dusted in less than 5 months and involved nothing more than a relatively straightforward completion of a claim form.0 -
Hi, not sure if this is the correct forum for this question. I have received the letter and claim form, and looked at the templates for filling it in on this site, however I have no idea who I had CPP with, and wether it was Card protection or identity protection I had. How can I find this out I have searched all my paper work and no luck, if I choose the wrong reason for claiming from the template list I won't receive any money. HELP0

I couldn't remember any of the detail about when I started or cancelled my policy but having received a form I assumed that I was eligible so I went ahead using one of the templates and posted it off, in a very short while I received a cheque for £85, it was so easy and very welcome, thanks Martin, you're great. :j0

Hi Bail, don't sweat about that, just fill in the form using the template that Martin has supplied and post it off quick, that's what I did. If you have received a form it means you are eligible, go for it.0

Well done on your success, but it is not "pessimism" to advise that a full FOS referral takes well over a year. FOS itself tells complainants this at the outset.0 -
I've seen this in Martin's weekly newsletter but although I had a policy which I took out on the basis of what appears to be miss-selling, I remember getting annoyed at them taking payment when they never asked if I wanted to renew. Getting keyrings and stickers etc.
I never recieved a letter so assumed it wasn't something I should look into. After delving a little deeper in this forum, I thought maybe a letter had gone to a previous address. I called them today, without a policy number as a lot of paperwork is in storage, and they said they would look under my current and last postcode.
After giving me information about a relatives claim, despite my telling them my full name (they've the same surname at the same address - which I think is pretty bad practise) they said no other records were found and therefore any policy I had was not mis-sold.
Is there any way to query this further as I was definately sold the policy based on findings in the investigation.0 -
This story started as I had a phone call from a retailer saying that was it true I had purchased furniture to be delivered to another part of the country? They were querying potential fraud as it was for a high value item and the addresses on the payment method and delivery were for different ends of the country. I thanked them and they said I should get in touch with my credit card provider to stop the card and re-issue which I did. When I got through to Barclaycard they happily canceled the card and reissued another but asked if I would feel that an ID product (which I am sure was through CPP) which under the circumstances I agreed to as I was obviously cautious and frightened.
Is this the same thing as CPP claim but with another company via Barclaycard?
CPP say I don't have a claim with them as I have not had a product and they didn't send me a letter. So would Barclaycard have sent a similar letter? I have proof payment was taken for 2 years from my Credit Card account with a reference number.
Help please!0
