I use incense sticks now, Tallu. Much cheaper, big range of scents and safer because unlike a candle they won't flare up. BUT you do need something to catch the ash.
  • Fairy original washing up liquid. The smell of it makes me sick. I had a bottle of it and I gave it to my mum to use.

I use any of them which have a fruit smell.

I hate the green one too :( I always tell my partner to get any but the green one! I don't know what it is but it's icky :( would never switch from fairy though, IMO it's the best washing up liquid and you only need a tiny bit so economical. X

Funnily enough, I haven't bought that Ecover one again as it made my clothes take forever to dry inside last winter! I love the delicates detergent though.

Home bargains cheapy dog chews - the fake jumbone ones and the slim triangle ones in white packaging - dogs won't touch them. B+M do much better dog treats.

I'm a philistine when it comes to chocolate! I even like asda smartprice! :-p

I love Asda smart price chocolate! It reminds me if advent calendar chocolate (probably cheap ;) ) and I also love that! They do lovely smartprice midget gems too, and have still retained the yummy original black flavour!x

Car air freshners. Can never find one that smells nice

Those magic tree types are rank. Yankee Candles do small space air fresheners that are lovely in the car. Not cheap, though.

I sometimes buy the gel fresheners meant for the house and leave that in the car.

Scented candles can be hit and miss as well. Either they smell until lit and then don't, pong the entire place out for hours and smell like the worst air freshener ever or they smell lovely until blown out at which point you just get burnt wick smell.

I cannot stand the smell of the spiced fruit, cinnamon and mulled wine smelly candles, gels etc. They smell rank! Also not keen on the pine ones. Why do I want my place to smell like a clean toilet?

Also what on earth does frosted snow smell of? Snow does not have a smell (unless a dog has wee'd on it)

I like scented candles, but is there a way to make the candle burn evenly across? I normally just get the middle bit melting and have to bin it when its burned down to the bottom, no more wick and yet there is half the wax left. I don't know where you get spare wicks. If I could, I would melt the wax, shove a wick whilst its still liquid.

In relation to burning candles, ensure the wick is really trimmed well down and burn the candle for 3 hours at a time or mor and the candle will will melt right across.

Do you find the use of candles helps to obscure the smell of baked faggots?

You can buy them on amazon and ebay. Candle wicks are just braided cotton, which is erm.....string.

Just get a length of cotton string, not nylon etc. and soak it in melted candle wax until it has soaked up some wax. Stretch it taught until the wax hardens, it won't take long, and you have a wick.
