I'm addicted to the milk chocolate Chocco bar in Aldi. Its the best cheap chocolate I've tried, and the sqaures are massive, and just 99p for a big bar!

ASDA Extra Special Fairtrade organic Dominican Republic dark chocolate 100g bar 70% cocoa £1

ASDA Extra Special Fairtrade organic Dominican Republic dark chocolate with cocoa nibs 100g bar 70% cocoa £1

For me they are a bit sweet cos I'm used to 90% cocoa but I like the cocoa nibs.

Re: tomato ketchup, did a taste teste on the organic ones Heinz v Tesco and Sainsbury's. Heinz uses tomatoes not 28%/29% tomato puree and no water whereas in both the own brands the first ingredient was water !!
  • You can get a surprise box from HC with a free p&p code - just google Hotel Chocolat codes for £8. You get 6 punnets of chocolate. I got mine earlier this week I got £21 of chocolate for £8! A nice treat every couple of months or so. Included were the Dizzy Pralines, Milk choc caramalised hazelnuts and shortbread caramel cookie chocs!

None of these left unfortunately. Gutted, was really looking forward to them. Lucky you!

Although better than an American Hershey bar, which tastes like vomit

Lol, my mum bought some Hershey's Kisses and complained they tasted off. I had a sniff of them and they did indeed smell like sick. She agreed, moaning how horrid they were. A couple of days later I asked if she'd complained. 'No' she replied, 'I ate them'. :rotfl:
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

I'm a philistine when it comes to chocolate! I even like asda smartprice! :-p

    "Even" like Asda Smartprice??

Well, it's by far the best budget supermarket chocolate!

As a HUGE chocolate fan, I tried all the supermarket's budget choc last year as some people kept (and keep) saying how nice they were.

Well I found all of them to be absolutely rank - except the Asda one. In a different league to all the other ones - it was actually edible and even very pleasant, creamy and Galaxy-like.

A few other people on here said the same thing and mentioned how they were always out of stock so word must have got out.

Sure enough, it took 3 attempts to actually find some in stock and I soon found out why. A bargain for sure and a nice treat if you're superscrimping but would still like some occasional choc.

I can't vouch for the milk chocolate but Aldi 70% Moser-Roth dark chocolate is great.

Hershey's is vile I agree, but Ghirardelli's is yummy-
especially the dark raspberry squares! I always bring a bagful back when I go to the USA.

I do love Moser Roth from Aldi in between though!

Just to confirm, I wasn't including Aldi or Lidl in that list - although both shop's cheap 30p (ish) bars are also awful and nowhere near as nice as the Asda budget milk choc.

Aldi's Choceur and Moser Roth chocolate is the real thing, proper chocolate to compete with the supermarket's standard chocolate and (in the case of Moser Roth) with Lindt or Green & Black's.

There's not many things I'd say are worth going to a different supermarket for when there is an alternative version available in my beloved Aldi but in the case of cheap 30p 100g milk chocolate bars, avoid Aldi's rubbish Dairyfine stuff and get a job lot from Asda (they sell out awful quick).

I bought some Hershey's Kisses for my mother from Ocado and she said they seemed stale too and put them out for the badger poor thing.
