Well, I'd avoid pretty much anything from the "Dairyfine" range. It's very much like the chocolate you get in Lidl - waxy and tasteless.
The middle range is very nice - the Choceur range. Not quite as creamy or tasty as Galaxy or Cadbury's I admit but it's still very nice and, being Aldi, very cheap. About £1.10 will get you a lovely big 200g slab of choc. I really like the white chocolate bar. They also do a lovely nut stick thing (10 pack for £1.50) and these are absolutely gorgeous.
Then there is the Moser Roth (sp?) range which is the premium range - a mixture of milk & dark choc bars in the range, some with some interesting fillings (blueberry & panacotta!). These generally look like large bars but, when opened, turn out to be 5 little bars individually wrapped. I've given quite a lot of these out to friends and family to try and every single person has thought they were yummy.
I still prefer Cadbury's though but it's almost double the price so I only get them when they're on offer (thanks My Supermarket!) but keep some Choceur and Moser Roth bars in the cupboard to keep me going through the Cadbury dry spells.0 -

I use any of them which have a fruit smell.
Ha ha! I agree with this. I generally use the perfectly lovely washing-up liquid from Aldi & Lidl but my mum bought me a bottle of original Fairy when they were on offer for 50p.
Not like me to bin a freebee but I thought it smelt so utterly disgusting and chemical-like that it went straight in the bin.
Hard to believe that this was the only "fragrance" of Fairy available for many years, back in the day.
Incidentally, I bought a job lot of Morrison's washing-up liquid when it was on offer a while ago. Was very impressed, especially with the smells. Other brands can be nice but the Morrison's ones actually smell almost exactly as they describe (apple, blackcurrent, etc) rather than just a passing similarity.
I know it's not that important really but washing-up is a sucky job so it's made more pleasant if you get a nice smell - and original Fairy is not pleasant at all.0 -
Most ready made biscuits and cake (with the exception of a an occassional chocolate hobnob)
Pretty much all cleaning materials including fabric conditioner- they stink and make me feel ill. Some eco ones are tolerable - currently using Mrs Meyers.
Jam - once you've tasted homemade everything else just tastes of sugar.
Instant coffee.
I do however have a soft spot for cadburys
Agree on the ready made cakes, jam & most shop biscuits especially contain far too much sugar that I just can't eat them as it puts my teeth on edge yet I use a 'standard' biscuit recipe at home which is usually fine. The only chocolate I buy now is Green & Black's. Was never mad on Cadbury's but did like a Galaxy.
I don't buy any conventional cleaning stuff - but it wasn't till I stopped buying it many years ago I realised just how strong it was in fragrance (not to mention ingredients) and if I've had any free samples since it now gives me a headache - especially if it's a washing powder/liquid, on bedding the smell just lingers for days it's just so strong. Having a nose in other people's baskets whilst waiting to pay it's shocking what a strong cocktail of artificial scents must be in most homes. Bleach makes me nauseous too.0 -
OP - everything you mention is not worth buying. The money-saving solution is to open a window now and again.0

any type of scented candles. I don't get the fascination with them- most are overpowering.
Similarly- the scented things for the car- disgusting! Just open a window.
Instant coffee powder.
Cheap tea bags. ( wish I could actually find a cheap brand I liked- I drink enough of it:rotfl:)weight loss target 23lbs/49lb0 -
Quilted, Aloe, scented, moist (!), Shea Butter and most worryingly, 'lotioned' toilet roll....what have we become?0

Yeah I hate those weird varieties of toilet roll! I also agree with the person who said Maryland gooeys weren't gooey at all.0

don't forget patterned toilet rolls!
Although hate the over marketing of a basic product, I do like the moist though..
and will add scented kitchen roll, bought it by accident once - last thing I want to put food on or clean pet cages with.0 -
Have you ever been really disappointed with things you've bought and thought 'No, I won't be buying that again' - almost every shop I try a few new things and there are always disappointments e.g. some supermarkets do better versions than others and that kind of thing.
Princes Tuna Chunks, (on special at Sains) awful awful! Am going to write to them to complain.
After eating princes tuna in oil a few times thought I must have gone off tuna. (Used to love it) But then someone made me a John west tuna sandwich. What a difference. So no more princes tuna for me...0 -
Another Maryland Cookie hater signing in.
The Moser Roth boxed truffles are very nearly as good as the twice the price Lindor.
The white bag value Aldi frozen peas are so bad they were close to being thrown out and I never throw out "good" food, buy only of you like chewing on bullets.0
