I saw a good deal on a children s book called 'The Pirate Cruncher' on Amazon. It's £1.75, reduced from £6.99. I thought it might be of use as you are making a pirate themed hamper
It has good reviews and looks really good.
That's brilliant thank you, I've just had a look and it might have fallen into my basketIs the Disney mag with the childrens comics?
They had these in tesco yesterday on a big stand next to the magazines as they are on a massive cardboard background so won't fit onto the normal shelves.StayHome * StaySafe * BeKind0 -
In my morrisons they put the new mags (especially them with gifts that wont fit on the normal shelve)with the newspapers for a couple of weeks until, they take off / the packaging is normal sized.
And with what mumto2boys said it looks like there making them a feature, so probaly wouldn't be where you'd expect themMummy to ds 29/12/06 dd 10/2/08 ds 25/5/11:Amy angel born too soon 18/11/12, always with me Emmie Faith:A15 projects in 2015 10/15completed0 -
Thanks - I looked in local newsagents, Co-op, Tesco but didn't see. Am going to Sainsbury's later so will have another look.
intrigued by the zombie hamper, I googled zombie gifts and found a gift voucher for you to go to Zombie school but it's in Droitwich and for over 14s- so son slightly too young for this Christmas.0 -
I'm no good at going out and buying loads of different contents for an empty hamper so I'm currently deciding whether to get my wife a standard hamper from Virginia Hayward or whether to go for the personalised ones from YourHamper. Bought from both of them before and they've always been great
I'm on a budget so the standard ones might be cheaper. I think this shows how bad I am at presents that I'm thinking about it this early!0 -

If you're on a budget, don't chuck away your money buying ready made ones! You can get away with buying the contents from supermarkets if you don't have time to shop around. Seriously, this is my perfect job - buying and making up hampers for people who don't have time/inclination to do it themselves. I just don't think I'd make much money on it.
Your wife would appreciate any thought you put into choosing it yourself. We can help if you're stuck for ideas.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Mumto2boys, Tesco have some children's books at £3 each or three books for a fiver. In my local large Tesco, they had two different pirate books in the offer this week. One was an activity book and the other was a sticker book.
Also, in Dunelm Mill, there were some party packs of pirate themed items, including those little bouncy balls.
Another idea - how about printing out a skull and crossbones, laminating, and attaching to a skewer to make a flag? Or stitching one if you have the time and skills?
You could also consider a DVD of Treasure Island. This is a children's version from Amazon. My boys have had other titles in the same series a couple of years ago, and I would say that they are better for younger children. Mind you, I found my copies in Morrisons for 99p!

I do a Christmas Eve hamper for my little ones, I have my OH knock on the front door about 4pm, leave the hamper, then leg it round the back while the kids open the door.
In it is reindeer dust, a reindeer shaped party bag with hot chocolate and marshmellow, a gingerbread Santa, a personalised letter from Santa,a Christmas bedtime story, some Christmas bath toys, new pyjamas and a DVD to watch
What a fabulous idea! Shame mine are too old now but I'm loving all the hamper ideas on this thread . It's my old Mum's 91st birthday coming up in November and there's nothing she needs so to make a change from the usual books & DVDs I'm going to make her up a tea themed hamper. I've had my eye on some discounted items via the Argos outlet site (small trays, cup & saucer sets, tea towels, etc) so I'm going to jump on them then get small boxes of different teas, packets of biscuits etc. Thanks peeps - you are all an inspiration!£2 Savers Club 2016 #21 £14/£250

I will go into our local Dunelm Mill at the weekend and see what I can find, I love the idea of stitching up a flag, any excuse to get the sewing machine out
Will keep a look out for a Treasure Island DVD too, that's one that they haven't got yet and sounds good for my twoStayHome * StaySafe * BeKind0 -

For the zombie hamper the max Brooks book - zombie survival guide is meant to be good. I also bought a little zombie notebook from him too on amazon last year
Also look out for zombie sweets around Halloween - they usually have quite a long date n them0
