My Dad does exactly this job, a bus driver for a Special school. At Christmas he comes home with loads of chocs, and my mum who is a mobile hairdresser comes home with more - though with some bottles of wine added to hers.:D

Something that is a common occurrence with his job, is he has to set off earlier than his usual start time due to inclement weather, as the school is either closing early or it is likely the journey will take a lot longer to drop pupils off. Maybe you can find something based around this? Eg hand warmer, thicker socks.

Not sure about school bus drivers specifically, but how about a small flask/travel mug which you could personalise if you wanted to
2014 20p savers club #2 I've given up trying to keep track of how much that pig eats!
2014 £2 savers club #3 - I've no idea, but the pig is beginning to get mighty heavy

The only really awkward one is my son's school bus driver. His escort is sorted - perfume. The driver is male, keeps himself very much to himself most of the time but does enjoy a laugh, and likes sweets. When they broke up for summer, I gave him a jar of retro sweets, with his name cross stitched in variegated thread to decorate the jar. I don't really go down the 'box of Roses' path, as I like to get something a bit more individual for everyone. Ideas are welcome :)

How about some hankies with funny quotes stitched on them if you are a stitcher?

  • My hubby (someone please enlighten me in regards to family title forum abbreviations?) is really bent on growing a beard and a moustache.
I tried and tried and tried to gently persuade him otherwise but I decided that hey he really loves it (men, eh?) so what the heck.
Anyway thought I could do him a hamper around this little 'pet project' of his.
Any ideas? I looked up some facial hair oils/conditioners/waxes and what i found was really pricey :(
    Any help appreciated!

I used to make my children “boxes” when they were little. It consisted of a box or gift bag. I would give loads of little gifts eg pencils, bobbles, jars of jam ……I would top up the box with polysterene shapes to make it like a lucky dip.:j:j:j
A really well received gift any age (Did similar for Mum and MIL)

DH is dearest or darling husband ;)

Maybe look into the shaping side of things, so a facial hair trimmer, think babyliss do some good budget ones,
    A little comb
A hand towel, if you embroider you could stitch 'beard' on it so he knows what it's for.
See if you can find any books about beards and moustaches. I think I have seen one called 'famous moustaches in history' or something like that, ill try remember where from
Pop into a department store and ask for samples from a beauty counter, you may find the oils and things there.
I would probaly add in a packet of bobbles and hair clips for a giggle

This is quite a hard one! .

  • I'm doing a gym hamper for my son. He will be 14 just before Christmas,

    I still need to get:
    Gym bag
    Sports socks
    Gym gloves
    Joggers
    Deep Heat muscle rub

    .

If you haven't got the clothing bits still it may be worth seeing if Primark have anything. I noticed in my local store they had a really good range of sporty clothing for the gym in the women's section so there's a possibility the men's section will also have stuff. Or Sports Direct are good and very reasonable.
    Saved: £1566.53/ £2000
  • Thank you guys!
    I love the ideas :)
Carlamarie it wouldn't be so hard if I had loads of money to spend but hey.
I was thinking that book LalaGomay linked, yours sounds interesting too (and he can get inspirations from it).
Getting samples is brill idea, that way he could also see what he does/nt like first without wasting a lot of money.
I saw this little mustache comb and scissors in a mustache shaped pouch
    41CrlRRkKUL._SX450_.jpg
But it is 10 pounds >_<. I could do a handmade pouch but looking at the scissors and comb/brush even separately is even more expensive.
Can the scissors be substituted by different ones or are those truly unique?
  • Ooooh ok i found this novelty little fella, think that'd be a good laugh.

Not sure if this is the right place to put this, but here goes ;)

I was thinking about making snowman soup/hot choc gift sets this year and found these jolly patterned china mugs and plates on H&M.

There are a couple of codes to use which enabled me to get the mug and side plate together for 98p! Not bad I think. Anyway when I thought about using for gifts I thought I'd share here.:)

Instructions on how to use the codes are here
I know they are talking about kid's clothes, but you can use the codes on anything. Just remember to add extra items to make your basket >£11, then remove them once you've put the code in (all info in the link).

    It's only a game
