well can i jump in and be the first july 2014 groom? future mrs s.s is on here but doesnt post much lol

anyway we are getting married 5/7/14, church has been booked for ages (not got the final price from them which is annoying), venue has been booked for erm.....2 years, we have an inclusive package which includes the venue being dressed, dj etc. i've been informed the dress has been picked out, my suits are as sorted as they can be, cars sorted, photographer sorted, honeymoon booked.
most of the daytime invites know the date all too well, not looking forward to having to send the invites to my dad's side of the family as not spoken to lots of them in years but still have to invite them
Who remembers when X Factor was just Roman suncream?
  • Ooh a man in our midst! :D welcome mr s s!

That's organised, you and mrs-ss2b are showing the rest of us up, although guess you've had a bit longer, I've only been engaged six weeks!

Such a shame about your family, is your dad in touch with them?

Yay! So exciting to have a group to talk to! My bridesmaids are scattered round the country so I can't talk to them whenever I fancy about wedding stuff!

Me and OH will have been together for 10 years at the end of September! And we'll have been engaged for 5 years on new years eve! So I'm ecstatic that when people ask if we've finally set a date I can say yes! Was getting tired of people moaning at us to hurry up!
To be fair though, when we got engaged, I had not long finished my post grad uni degree and started teaching so we just couldn't afford to! Then we decided that buying a house was more important for our future so we managed to do that just over a year ago and now we have finally saved enough to actually get married!

Where are you off on honeymoon split? We can't decide where to go. Had my heart set on the maldives since I was about 10! But at the start of August I think it's monsoon season so I think we are going to have to rule it out! Where is everyone else planning on going?

Yes he is, its more complicated as he has siblings and step siblings, not seen the step siblings for about 10 years ago when my grandad passed away. The stepsiblings arent invited as one remarried last year and my parents got invited but we didnt. My dad is in touch with one sibling more than the other, we have doubts over whether my grandma (dad's stepmum) will come, she has never met future mrs s.s

  • What centrepieces were you looking for justengaged?

Anything with a bit of purple in it really, I found two nice ones on Ebay, both artificial, but fairly reasonable prices, I'm not sure which one I like more though, very 50/50 on them for now.

I cant get the pictures on here to show you, it keeps giving an error icon, but the link to imgur is http://imgur.com/FXeL9U5.

Welcome Split second as well - men are just as welcome, come and get comfy lol.

MissTeach, your dress looks lovely as well, are you having your hair up for it or down?

    babymonster2 - another 26th July 2014 bride here

    Done:
    Church
    Reception venue
Accomodation for us and immediate family
    Flowers
    Singer
    Quotes from caterers
    Dress
    Photographer

    Still to do:
    Save the dates
    Invitations
Bridesmaid dresses - we did choose one but prices to have them made were quite expensive
    Decorations
    Centre pieces
    Insurance
Cake - although I've started the search on this.

OH is a wedding photographer so he's done more planning than I have to be honest. Waiting for the wedding season to get quieter so he can crack on with Save the Dates and Invites.
Debt free other than a mortgage but still always wanting to save money :j.

Busy saving for my wedding July 2014 :o.

Down I think. I wear it tied up everyday for work so want something different. I like my hair better down. Not sure whether to just have it down and straight or in a half up, half down style. Will need to play around at my hair trial!
  • I've got quite fine hair so might end up getting some hair extensions, or inserts (no idea of their name) that can bulk it up a bit.

My parents are going to pay for our wedding car as a present, and offered to pay for the hair/ makeup so I can maybe splash out a bit more (without being cheeky) as a result, but everyone seems to charge loads just for hair/ makeup.

So exciting to read everyone's plans! We're getting married in December 2014 and I'm sooo happy! :) Just about to start planning the details but we're on a pretty tight budget, so any tips greatly received!

First job = Save the date cards!
    Something simple/traditional/vintage perhaps
    Nay suggestions?
