July 2014 Brides and Grooms

I saw a few posts in the 2014 thread but it felt like they were getting a bit lost in the overall size of it, so have created a July 2014 one for peeps.

Having had to put our wedding back from July 2013, we're now definitely getting married next year so everything has started to get planned now it's very exciting as have something to look forward to!

So far, I've managed venue, booked registrars and starting keeping an eye on eBay for some nice bargains. We went over budget on the venue so have to cut costs elsewhere as we both fell in love with it.

How are others doing, and do you need a hug yet to help with all the craziness? :D

I was thinking we should start a July thread! I'm getting married on the 26th July 2014.

So far I have booked, ordered or bought:
    Wedding Insurance
    Save the date cards
    Church
    Reception venue
    Photographer
    Hairdresser
    Make up artist
My dress, veil and tiara and garter
    Bridesmaids dresses

Next up on the list to sort are:
Send the Save the date cards!
    DJ or entertainment
    Transport
    Cake
    Honeymoon

It's been a tough year so far and I can't wait for 2013 to be over so I can have a good year in 2014! We've had three family deaths since June, including my fiance's father and grandmother and my great grandmother, and a divorce, which is going to make the wedding day extremely emotional knowing such crucial people are no longer going to be there. So we better throw a good party to make them proud!
  • MissTeach, sorry to hear about your family passing away, terrible thing to have happen, I'm sure they're already extremely proud of you, and will be watching over you on the big day though. My grandparents passed away when I was much younger, and I like to think they'll still be watching over me.

Congrats on being so organised, I still need to sort quite a lot out, the amount of people that give me grief over what we haven't arranged yet is crazy. I wasn't sure whether or not to bother with save the date cards as we're only have a small wedding, but everyone else is invited to the evening, wasn't sure if Save the Dates got sent for evenings as well or not though.

Realised I forgot to put my date as well, it's 4th July

I think if we were having a smaller wedding a might not bother with the save the dates. But I have people in Northern Ireland/Scotland that will need to travel and because a lot of my friends are teachers it's the start of the summer holidays when most of us would usually be jetting off somewhere!
Don't think I'd give them to the evening guest as might cause confusion and they get upset when they find they can't come for the ceremony/wedding breakfast.

So sorry to hear you've had a tough year MissTeach, I hope the rest of the year treats you kinder...

    I'm getting married 5th July!

So far we've booked the venue and registrar, save the dates sent to day guests only and bought wedding insurance. We've started on the centrepieces too as I'm making them by hand so are taking a while.

I'm meeting a potential photographer on Thursday and we've met with the company providing chair covers, drapes etc but need to wait to see how much the photographers quote comes out at before putting a deposit down on anything else.

Oh, and honeymoon is booked. Not yet paid for though!

I've started dress shopping now and getting a LOT of opinions on that, just have to remember to bite my tongue!

    Hi all
I am getting married on 9th July 2014 in Greece. We got engaged in February this year and have been planning ever since.

    We have booked/we have:
    Venue (Kalithea Springs)
    Reception (greek taverna)
    sent out invites
booked venue in the UK for a party when we get back
    My dress
    bridesmaid dresses
    my shoes
    gifts for bridesmaids
    Hotel/flights
    Makeup/hair person booked
    Photographer booked
    Wedding rings

Things like favours I will do nearer the time. Got the main bits out of the way! For flowers, transport to the venue/reception etc...we order them through the wedding planner next year in February.

Lots to look forward to :) I am hoping these next 10 months and 13 days fly by!
  • We just booked our venue this weekend for July 24th! This will be the 10th anniversary of the day we met. So far I've only got the venue and photographers (but that includes food)

    I do however have:

    my placecards (sea shells)
my dress (that will be altered)
gift list register (we want to do charity donations, but my mum pointed out that some people will want to buy physical things, so we are going to have both with the charity on the front of the gift list!)
  • Missteach sorry to hear about your tough year, but yeay I have a date twin!

You're so much more organised than me though. Have the registrar and venue (which includes food / some flowers / accommodation), and BIL is doing photos and Sisterthe cake but that's it!

Trying to lose baby weight (and still feeding at present!) so no idea what size / shape I'll be next year yet so can't start on the dress, what has everyone else gone for?

We're planning a relatively small wedding (30ish adult guests) and no extras for the evening.

    Greece sounds amazing becciboop

I do feel like I'm missing something as not feeling stressed at all, someone tell me when that starts!
  • So happy to see other July-ers on the thread now, I love my family/ friends dearly but I need someone I can discuss this and understand my point of view, and the impending panic our dates may bring (babymonster2 - if you're not panicking you must've done something right - and there's no need to :D)

I did find some nice centrepieces on eBay, but the seller contacted me (after I'd won and paid) that they were accidently damaged...bit miffed but hey ho what can you do?!

I don't want to pay too much so might even try to find some nice silk flowers and maybe make some ourselves.

Same Justengaged, I am trying so hard not to go on about the wedding too much but it is so difficult so this is a great place to be!

We're trying to keep costs low too which is why I'm making all the invitations etc. Also going to be going for silk flowers, we have a local shop that sells them cheaply so I will be visiting there at some point and eBay as well!
  • Yeay, lots of July brides!

I'm finding that most people can't muster up any excitement for the wedding after all it's not for another 11 months so definitely great to have other ladies to chat with!

Our budget has already increased a couple of times as found the perfect venue at quite a bit over, but it enables us to have the wedding we want so are happy with our decision.

Keeping costs down with family photographer, no bridesmaids or groomsmen, no favours, no gifts (not needed if no wedding party) and no wedding ring for groom as he doesn't want one!

Are silk flowers considerably cheaper? Think only need to pay for bouquet and centrepieces (if that's what we go for) so hoping not a huge cost?

What centrepieces were you looking for justengaged?

For those with dresses already do we get a peep? :D
