how to get a pay rise

Do you not know many private owned companies have made losses hence lots of redundancies? Needing to make cut backs to keep a float?
Don't confuse a lack of output with a lack of profit!
In 2011 alone, the average pay of Company Directors increased by 49%. Remember that is in just one year!!

Also, check out the 5 year FTSE chart here:

There has been a dramatic increase in the value of 'private' companies, so one must assume they have been making decent profits.0 -

Interesting stuff. I'm surprised that one passed me by too. It seems as though the NUM just couldn't afford to continue paying the rent for Scargill due to the decline in its membership.0 -
If members didn't want their union to carry out certain activities would they not vote to change policy accordingly?
Unions are some of the most democratic organisations around so it's hard to argue that their activities don't represent the will of their membership.
It may be that you think these activities are not needed but the unions and by implication the members disagree!
I was a member for 15 years and wasn't once asked whether I wanted them to donate money to the Labour Party.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
