how to get a pay rise

if you improve your productivity by 1% in the course of a year and mention this to your employer but they don't increase your pay - should you drop your productivity back to its previous level?
or if you identify productivity improvements you can make, should you tell your employer that you will apply them if you get a pay rise?

You can only get a rise if you move employer by going what was said in the previous post your employer will not entertain a rise. That's the trouble when you work with a provider to the public sector. I have always been in a job when I have had a rise in pay but nothing that is significant enough to change my lifestyle.
In real terms I only ever had about a £6 per week rise in pay and that is nothing to write home about but it's a hell of a lot better than signing on for benefits.0 -
it just seems that people are quick to insist someone should increase their productivity to get a pay rise, but are not around to say what you should do if you do that and dont get a pay rise
youve shot yourself in the foot by needlessly doing more work for no reward
so increasing ones productivity would seem like a big gamble0 -

because there is no reason for me to be more productive. there is no money in the kittyPlaying on the internet is not going to get you a pay rise.
as opposed to doing what that will get me a pay rise?0 -

Your attitude to work is all wrong. You have received endless good advice, but all you are bothered about is money.
Do your best because it makes you feel good. A positive attitude plus a good work ethic will get you a new job and/ or a pay rise. A 'more money for minimum effort' ethic will get you a short cut to the Jobcentre.0
