Bit of research about them around the net would have saved you a lot of grief. EG See: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1731457

  • Hi all - we have been customers of XLN for 6 years. We had a call from XLN in August as this was at the time out contract was ending and they said we are going to put you on a new service plan that will save you money. We agreed at the time but at no point was it mentioned this was a new contract.

4 months down the line our bills are more expensive on this new plan but XLN are not interested. We tried to leave but they said there is a£299 cancellation fee plus another £99 broadband cancel fee. They said we have to stay with them until August.

we are now in a more expensive plan we cannot get out of.

Can anyone give any advice on what we can do?

    Thanks
    Marios

New service plan = new contract its always that simple .
  • Yes I understand that but telling me I will save money on this new plan to be worse off every month?! That acceptable?

Well in what way did the say that your new plan would be cheaper? Did you not ask what the rates were? How do the 2 plans vary? Are you making more exclusive calls?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Hi, I have an appointment on Friday for this company to put in a line for my new business. Should I not bother then? I can't afford the installation price of BT and these were within budget but reading all the feedback on this forum I don't think I should bother!

I can only go by my experience which was absolutely terrible both from the actual phone and broadband service and customer service/billing. Despite being able to leave them without penalty due to the terrible problems, I endured months of issues dealing with their incorrect bills with dozens of letters sent and ignored and phone calls promising to resolve the issues but never doing so.

My advice would be absolutely do not give them your business. Also bear in mind if you go with their broadband you cannot stream any radio, tv, video including you tube or promotional videas as they block these.
  • We were business customers with XLN for 4 years. They put us on a rolling contract and when we got out of it, because these type of contracts are not allowed anymore, they tried to charge us £100s and said they would cut us off.

They will hound you every day with calls and emails.

They blocked our changeover to another telecomm company even though we have it in writing from XLN that we do not have a contract.

SO, DO NOT ENGAGE WITH THESE ROGUES.

Ofcom fines them but they just laigh at this
  • Xln will hound you and threaten you but you must change.

If you check the Ofcom rules now they cannot hold you to rolling contracts.

They will block you at every turn. A very underhand company.

I suggest that you set up an entirely new contract with a better provider then cancel the Xln service. Don't believe what XLN say on the phone either. They will go back on it every time.
