How does your 'entertainment' budget work? Maybe you need a 'clothing' budget?
You always know how to put a smile on my face
Entertainment budget - anything that is spent on me/ me and DH/family entertainment (ie took the kids down the pub after a country walk for a coke and packet of crisps £20!) that doesn't have a budget. It's rather random - I should break it down a bit more as I have spent half of June's budget on a haircut :eek:

So £78 on a haircut and highlights plus a £5 tip for the 3 girls who worked on my hair (not sure what the right thing to do with tips when you have a really expensive haircut) - that was half price btw! Really pleased with it though - haven't been to the hairdressers since August so that was actually not a bad annual price.
Popped down to the big Mr T's to get my fuel save - £7.23 off my bill :money: Picked up some bits to cover me for the next few days - £42.74-should really have made the most of my trip down there but I haven't done my menu plan for the month yet. I've also discovered there is a Morrisons not too far away from here so I think I might give it a go.
Daily food budget:£6.22
Declutter challenge: one odd stocking plucked from my drawer
Fruit and veg challenge: 5
water challenge: TBC
I'm doing a secret loo roll count this month (OMG I can't believe I am doing this!!) I just cannot believe just how much we get through - will update you in a month (I know - bated breath)
Back to decorating tomorrow

I tip like a giddy French monarch when getting my haircut, but it does typically come in at £6-8.500

£9 for me & she comes to the house, £1 tip, both happy. Just get a wet cut and hair is natural colour (grey
)

my haircut is normally £14 (dry cut it's called but they do spray it wet with a spray thing) and I tip £1 too. - home dye for me, normally when they are on offer (2 for £9 etc)
What is it with tipping hairdressers?? why do we do it?? hairdressers and taxi drivers seem to get all the tips!! not very MSE :think:I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. I know! My local barber has been there for 30+ years, a small barber and hairdressers. Very small premises, on the fringe of some light industrial units and the suburbs (I'm guessing rents are fair). They can fit 3-4 customers at a time when they're busy. I know rent, rates and wages need to be paid, but a lot of their trade is hairdos for gents (anything from 20-30 mins). Can't be a bad business, the woman who owns it goes to far posher restaurants that we can afford!0 -
Hmm - thanks guys I think I get the picture - I'm paying far too much to get my haircut! I've tried a number of different local hairdressers in my area and they are all around the same price- it's a good job I don't have it done very often. The way I view the tip is that it is for the girl who washes my hair who is normally a trainee on a very low rate. It's my favourite part of the experience as I get my head massaged
Not a lot happening at the moment. Hoping for a NSD today, still decorating. DH is back tomorrow - can't wait to see him .DSS2 got himself a part time job in a restaurant in a local hotel which is good news and means he can start to save up for his car insurance for when he passes his test. It may take him a while though as I think it's around £2000 :eek: (I'm certainly not paying for it). Picked up a few reduced bits in Waitrose yesterday and of course got my free cup of tea :money:
It's not meant to get above 12 degrees here today - where is our summer?

Well done for not paying for your son's insurance! One of my colleagues wrung her hands for a solid year over whether or not she'd need to buy a car for and insure her 18 year old son. In the end she compromised and 'only' gave him a car :rotfl:0
