Grief can do strange things to the mind. Delusions such as hearing voices of the deceased are a common symptom. The idea of actually being able to communicate with the dead is simply ridiculous, especially when such voices are known as a symptom of grief.
It may be ridiculous to you but there are hundreds of thousands of us that do have faith and do believe
Would you tell Catholics,Church of England, Muslims etc that their beliefs are ridiculous.
Further I would say hearing voices suggests a serious mental illness rather than griefSlimming World at target0 -

I would try my best not to be so rude but, if push came to shove, yes.Further I would say hearing voices suggests a serious mental illness rather than grief
Oh the irony, non-believers on here have been trying to tell people who claim they have heard the voice of god that for years :rotfl:Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
As a Christian I do not believe that the dead communicate with the living.
I went to a Spiritualist church several times before I became a Christian, because the Clairvoyant (Medium) was a colleague of my husband's.
I'm sorry to say that I thought the bit he did in the church was excellently stage-managed and most of what he said would apply to someone. I'm sure he believed he was channelling spirits of dead people, I'm afraid I didn't.
I had no religious faith at the time, but went there several times just to give it a chance.
As others have said, there are also a lot out there who just play on your grief to get your money.
I think the OP would be better off with some bereavement counselling.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Not for me..AT ALL! When my dad died I think grief made it pass through my mind but I've always believed if he ever could or did make contact it would be to tell me off as I've done so much he would disagree with. In fact I feel like I've let him down massively...
So in a nutshell I now don't know if I believe it or if I'm scared to believe in it if you know what I mean!
So sorry about your son - truly devastating : (0 -

Oh believe me, it happens all the time, to any Christians, not just Catholic and CofE. We've never reported anyone yet.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I do need to see someone I think, but am wary of being seen by someone who has no belief of anything, not really sure how to explain this? from the start I have been everyone's rock, siblings, husband etc, always the strong one. but I miss my son so much, always questioning myself about what if I did this, did that, noticed something earlier etc, and yes I admit I am looking for something but don't know what?
I would also suggest you visit CRUSE or another grief organisation. CRUSE will not offer you answers but will listen to everything you have to say and help you make your own answers.
CRUSE helps those of all religions and you are very unlikely to be aware if your volunteer has a religion or no religion because they are not there to talk about themselves!
CRUSE offers a gentle, non judgemental approach allowing you to talk through all the issue around your sons death, relationships before and since and how you are getting through since your bereavement. It is a freeing process and many, many clients have said they really don't know how it works but it does.
No one not a spiritualist, a medium, a religion or a grief organisation can take the death of you son away and the hurt you feel. All CRUSE can do is to make the pain more easy to deal with and help you view it in the context of your life and relationships and help you reflect on the life of your son in a positive way.
What ever help you seek I hope it helps and it is never too late to ask for help from CRUSE we have clients who have been bereaved many years ago who have finally sought help, it's never to late.0 -

This was not my experience at at all, not helpful at all, and my friends experience was even worse, her visitor actually nodded off when she was crying and looking for comfort after losing her daughter. I would say avoid Cruse.Slimming World at target0 -

I'm sorry to hear that but please don't blame the whole organisation due to these experiences. By visitor do you mean the counsellor who saw her as if someone fell asleep I certainly hope that a complaint was made. I'm sure CRUSE would want to know why you felt unhelped.:(Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -
