Macius at the vets, stomach pumped, ate a tablet

Thanks, I thought/was hoping that is all it was but he is just not himself at all.
he is normally an utter horror behavior wise and greedy like hell.
He is very quiet now, just lies down, walks a bit but very wobbly, more than normal (he is normally a wobbly walker and very clumsy), eats very little (normally runs like mad and jumps to food). Just not my Macius at all.
tested him with front door - he is normally first trying to get out (even with the door closed, silly sod), not interested - not THAT is bad.
Not chancing it, was not happy with the vets I took him to so let's see what Goddards say. It is 24 hour hospital, they have all facilities they need in one place.
Fingers crossed.
Poor little mite.0 -
Got him some chicken breast, cooked it with rice but he was not interested. Then gave him just boiled chicken with no rice he ate that nicely but still I know this little guy - he is way off his normal (nightmare) self.0

This is NOT what Macius is normally like...photo taken just now0 -
aw, poor little mite.
i hope you get answers at the vet hospital this afternoon.
They do cause us some traumas, our animals!
How is Zara getting along?0 -
Thanks.
And thanks for asking about Zara.
Zara is on both Onsior (1) and Tramadol (up to 8) a day - that is AFTER both her hips were replaced.
She goes out with dog walker for an hour per day and with me on shorter walks. No running. No playing ball. This is NOT why I put her through such invasive surgery. Twice.
Waiting for her insurance to renew and will be taking her to another vet, will not go back to FR as they keep on telling me there is nothing wrong with her past both surgeries and it is clear there is something not right.
Ortho referrals are very expensive so unfortunately have to wait for the insurance renewal. October I think. In the meantime - we are taking it easy. One big walk a day and 2-3 smaller ones.0 -
Hope he's back to himself soon, but just to say my cat was the same after her big op... For about a week she wasn't herself at all, didn't eat, didn't do her usual oddball heavier..it took a while but slowly she came round..maybe he's just a bit traumatised ...Its all mind over matter. I don't mind and you don't matter:rotfl:0

Oh bless her. Have FR said that they would expect her to still be having pain and stiffness, or do they not even recognise she is having symptoms?
How old is she again? I can understand that when you made the decision go put her through the surgery, you would be expecting a much better outcome for her. I know all about the cost of ortho referrals, having just paid to have my dog's cruciate done, and when
I was making the decision to have the surgery, the thing I was considering is will he get a good quality of life back, and for him that includes walks, running, ball fetching and swimming. It must be frustrating for you!0 -
They do not agree that there is anything wrong with her past surgery - end of.
Zara will be 7 yo on the 28th August.
I put her through the surgery twice (each back leg) exactly to improve her quality of life and this is not happening.
very, very frustrating...
Off to the vets with Macius in a few minutes...

Thanks,
Macius stayed at Goddards Hospital - he has temperature higher than normal and was flinching when his throat was touched. Nothing could be seen in the throat as possibly deep inside.
No idea what is going on, possibly irritation from the tube?
All his history was faxed over to Goddards within minutes.
The vet who has seen him wanted to give him some injections 3 times per day and antibiotics. I can not run him there and back 3 times per day so he stayed in the hospital.
Now, who said it is not necessary to have pets insurance?
At least I do not have to worry about the bill.
Also, at Goddards nobody asked me to anything anything up front - we will sort this out when Macius is well and ready to come home.
Thanks again everyone.0
