Macius at the vets, stomach pumped, ate a tablet

How's he doing?I have a simple philosophy:
Fill what's empty. Empty what's full. Scratch where it itches.

Hope he makes a full recovery. Sounds like a nightmare for you xxxGood enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j
If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!0 -
Hope the little fella is ok, getting ready.
Would you not have considered making him vomit yourself though? Just because it would be the speediest treatment?
Suppose it's not as easy with a cat as with a dog though.0 -
Thanks everyone.
Yes, of course I have tried to make him vomit straight away but no, not so easy with a cat as it is with a dog.
Just had a phone call, he is doing fine little mite - all depends on his blood tests tomorrow/Wednesday to see if there is any damage.
Having read the quote I have posted above I am a little bit less worried as it seems Onsior is not as toxic to cats as I was made believe it is.
Thanks again, hope he is ok little mite.0 -
They give us some grey hairs don't they?
So pleased he is doing ok.
My dog Lucy was on antibiotics for a recurring tummy problem when she was younger and she was still my daughter's dog. She was to have one tablet every six hours.
My daughter left the tablets on the kitchen worktop and Lucy got to them and ate the WHOLE PACKET of 30 tablets!!!
We found just a few bits spat out on the floor.
Raced her to the vet who called the tablet manufacturers for advice.
They said only that she might be sick a few times but otherwise not to worry.
She was absolutely fine and the tummy problem cleared up for good!0 -
Just a a call from the vets - Macius eats/drinks/pees as normal and screams to be let out as normal so all good.
They will do blood tests tomorrow to check and hopefully will bring him home in the evenings.
I did mention the article I found about Onsior not being so toxic to cats and they admitted it is true.
Whatever, as long as I get my little monster back all well, the bill does not matter and thanks God for insurance - he is insured with petPlan so is Fiona, Phoebe, Teddy and Fred. Zara and George are with Argos who paid 14k for Zara's operations and nearly 5k for George so far.
Anyone thinking insurance is not necessary - please think again. You just never ever know...
Off to work. Sigh.0 -
Brilliant news, pretty disgusting from the vets.
So while you are panicking, sweating, worrying that the tablet kitty ate was going to make his kidneys turn inside out, they are thinking oh well it's not even toxic to cats, we don't have to rush, BUT we will make the owner pay redonkulous amounts for unnecessary stomach pump/blood tests, but we don't do that until we receive money, because money is more important than the creatures our business is made to help.0 -
What disgusting treatment from the vets. Every minute counts in situations like that.
Just shows some vets care more about money than compassion for animals. It really wouldn't have hurt to get on with emergency treatment then argue about how the bill is paid afterwards.
Don't vets understand that pet owners would do/pay anything for their pets, there would have been no risk that they wouldn't have got their precious money.
What a frightfully stressful time you've had. Hope he's home soon.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Is an actual reaction to my posts, so please don't rely on anything I say.

Just seen this GR.
Lots of love to little Macius - and you too, I know you'll have been frantic xx
I'm disgusted with the vets. Hope you're going to give both of them a b0llocking :mad:0 -
So glad to hear that he's doing ok GR. Cats love to scare their human's don't they? After all this is over and he's back home with you I'd look around and find another vet to treat my animals. I'd also point out to current vet that they are losing the business you give them for all your animals because of how they have treated you and Macius.loobylou2.Proud to be dealing with my debts and aiming to sort out the mess in 2013!!!!:eek:0
