  • I have been reading your diary over the last week on and off. Massive welldone on the current amounts paid off! You will be so much better off after the debts are all gone A) because you will have the money you're using now as 'spare' income and B) because the mindset MSE creates will make you spend it a lot more wisely than perhaps before.

Big congratulations to you! Have subscribed for the final leg of your journey!

I'm naturally suspicious but is there any reason she is selling up now?

Good question, she's fallen out with her supplier and has got fed up with the isolation of having to be in all the time to answer the phone. I did call her back and make her an offer of £1200, but she's gone off the think about it. I think she's hoping for a bidding war! I would go up to £1500, but after that I'm out, I will wait to see if she calls back next week.

I seem to have completed everything on my holiday list, apart from the evil ebaying!
I've been dog sitting the last couple of days which has been great for the excersize, lots of dog walks.
Getting the window fixed cost me £50 cash, which was less than I thought.
All in all a good week, although not very frugal!!

I just thought I'd take a look at what I've spent in the last month seeing as I've managed to stay in budget really well.

    Budget Jan Feb Mar Oct Fuel 300 274.82 189.67 242.65 225.08 Housekeeping 180 168.44 140.77 206.22 119.76 Spends 270 188.97 318.6 197.69 180.92
Everything well in budget, DS has spent a lot of time up at his dads in the last month, so that helps with the housekeeping/food budget. Only 1 Macdonalds consumed last month. Also I haven't seen a great deal of DD either as she's been at her BF's. So the moral of the story is, kids are expensive!!

Not a bad week, 3 no spend days as I was away most of the week. I spoiled the kids a bit when I got back though, we had chinese, lunch out and some wine.
Today I leave on a mega work trip, to China, lots of no spend days, although I will be doing some duty fee shopping for christmas.
I forgot to put in my milage claim again grrr. The next payment month is December it'll be well over £500 by then.
Well better finish packing and remember to switch everything off
Bye for now, have a lovely weekend x

I say without doubts that China was an interesting experience. The food was quite appalling, although surprising, I had been warned about this before I went. Chickens feet, beetles, eel, jelly fish, yes they were all on the table. I think it'll be a little while before I get back my appetite, thank goodness for cereal bars!

We did get to spend a little time in the copymarket, where I bought some gifts:- A rolex, Gucci hand bag, Armani sunglasses and I treated myself to a pair of Uggs. The total cost was £96, and I have to say they are amazingly good copies. Luckily we didn't have much time to spend there otherwise I fear the price tag would have been much higher.

The other big spend was during our day off, we hired a tour guide to the Great Wall, the cost was £100, but totally worth every penny, we walked about 6 miles of the wall. I expected it to be flat, but it was incredibly hilly, and I could hardly walk the next day.

So £196 spent, from my gift and holiday budget no less :), a once in a life time opportunity.

On the positive side, I racked up 5 no spend days and a haul of mini hotel toiletries.

DS has dropped his phone down the loo and it's no longer working :(. I have said that I won't buy him a new one, but I will lend him the money for a 2nd hand one and I will take it back out of his allowance monthly. Now I guess this is encouraging borrowing, which is the last thing I need to be doing, never though of that when I said - doh.

He also expressed that he wants to start saving for a car when he's 17 next year, so I'm going to make an appointment at the bank, to go in and talk to some-one about this.

I have a day off work today. I need to get organized for the week ahead, and get all the bank accounts in order. There's some money needs moving around to the right places.
Very frugally tea will be soup from the left over veg in the fridge, with home made bread out of the freezer that my pal gave me, and crumble made from the rather old apples and pears in the fruit bowl.

I've meal planned for the rest of the week out of the freezer, so there should be little shopping to do.

    Update from last week
    • Spends: £198.60 - £100 tour guide £96 rip off goods, £2.60 milk & bread top up
    • Remaining dosh till payday: £477:T
    • Extra Cash raised: £89 affiliate income
    • Exercise: Walking the great wall and about 5 miles through airports

Try putting DSs phone in a plastic bag with some dry rice. It may work

I think you've made the right decision re telling DS you'll lend him the money, much better than gifting it to him. Nothing wrong with responsible borrowing after all.

China sounds great, except for the food
