I love my built in appliances, my double gas oven and hob and love the extractor fan hood thingy as I hate cooking smells!

    Love my mosaic tiles.

There is nothing I hate about it because it is the first kitchen I have ever got to choose myself. :)

My HA kitchen just after they finished installing it, basic but serviceable I guess...

I think it looks lovely x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • I love the fact I've got loads of cupboards. Hate the fact it's a freezing room in winter!

  • Love your kitchen bagpussbear. It reminds me that my kitchen is cold in Winter too - never seems to warm up - and next time I'd have underfloor heating.

Thank you, it's the pic that the estate agent took rather than me, so its more lived in now - fishtank, oven gloves, kettle and the like! Agree, underfloor heating would be great :)

I'm not interested in cooking so kitchen chic is not high on my list, however it would be useful to have a dishwasher, fridge freezer and be able to fit in the tumble dryer. Unfortunately I didn't think about ever having these things when my BIL refurbed it and it would be a shame to damage what he did.
I do love the bright orange tho!

  • Hate: the underfloor heating which doesn't keep the room warm. My kitchen is big and freezing in winter.
Also detest having built in appliances - don't get the English obsession with them at all. At least my fridge isn't built in.
Also hate having the washing machine in the kitchen.
I don't cook but my other half loathes not having enough work space.
The stupid big step in the middle of the room I keep falling down at night as I forget it's there - but the cats like it as they can loll against it.

Like: the fact I don't have granite work tops. My glass splash backs (nice very pale green colour, had them in for years), my lovely big and serious looking Miele fridge, the fact that the room is huge and has big sky lights.
  • Don't like the fact there is no where to put a table or chairs.
Don't like the fact it open plan to the rest of downstairs.
Love the look of the smeg extractor fan even though it doesn't work, lol.
Love my orange walls in a cold north facing room.
    Would like new cabinet doors.
Would like a much bigger draining board than it seems possible to buy, as we are not interested in having a dishwasher.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
  • Don't like:
    1. that my developers though it was acceptable to have 110 cm of useable worktop space
    2. that it was designed by a moron
    3. that the washing machine is in there instead of the somewhat over large bathroom (it's an open plan flat- living ,dining & kitchen- so when using the washer the TV has to be switched off as you can't hear a thing)
    4. No space for a dishwasher- though they have taunted us with the attachment under the sink for it.
    5. Extractor fan louder than the washing machine...
    6. No cupboard space
    7. Hideous cheap and naff beech/ orange units
    8. Hideous cat hairball coloured tiles.

    Do like:
    1. the cheap 'fixes' I've done to make it palatable
    - wallpapered over tiles and painted a lovely blue colour
    - bought car sticker vinyl and backed all of the unit doors and drawers in a nice, clean, glossy white
    2. The fact that I'm about to put the flat on the market and leave! :)
