Things you love/hate about your kitchen

We have decided to buy a new kitchen and for the past few days I have been reading through various threads. Now I would very much like to hear about the things YOU love/hate about your kitchens (that you definitely would/wouldn't get when buying a new kitchen in the future).

For example (from my experience):
- I LOVE my magnetic knife rack and definitely want to have one in my new kitchen
- I HATE my shaker style cupboards - they're a nightmare to clean so I'll probably go with basic slab cabinet doors this time.

Thanks!

I love everything and hate nothing but that's because ours is brand new this year. :j We took a year to think about what we spent a windfall of money on and then had 3 different companies come and look at our kitchen and do us a design before settling on what we wanted.

I love my table cloth on the kitchen table.I hate the rest of the kitchen.
  • I HATE the fact that we have wall units on the walls and floor meaning I can't fit half my cooking bits in the cupboards.

I LOVE our lights underneath the wall units as they provide the best lighting on the main work surface meaning no chopped fingers.

I hate the tiny kitchen I have - we keep meaning to knock the wall down between there and the dining room, but, its load-bearing and the radiator is on that wall and every year the cost seems to escalate! we end up spending what we have saved, on other things and the kitchen has to wait! (waited nearly fifteen years now).
What doI LOVE? I love the new white doors (recycled the old handles onto new doors), I love the mosaic tiles. I love the thought of the lovely meals I have cooked there and most of all I love the memories of cooking with the grandkids in there!

I rent, and some insane person decided it would be a good idea to put CARPET in the kitchen. Carpet! Needless to say, I absolutely loathe it.

I love my "gadgets", espresso machine, milk frother ( vanilla latte...mmmh!), mixer...etc. And I love the fact I have 2 fridges! One for food, one for drinks. :D

I love the swing out storage units that I had put in to the cupboards. It makes getting things so much easier. I also like that the fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher are all integrated so I don't see any of them.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

I love my cooker, but hate the cupboards. I've got a long and narrow kitchen so no space for a table. I'd like to change the whole kitchen lay-out but I have more urgent things that need doing first.

I've had a new kitchen for 4 weeks, after 10 weeks of building works and I love it. Previously it was 2 rooms that we have now knocked through and I had to put up with a truly manky kitchen for almost 3 years. I love that I have a table in it, that's all I wanted.

Only problem is we only put the kitchen in to make the house more saleable so we can move and buy another wreck, so my experience of having a lovely, glossy, shiny kitchen will be short lived.

I do have Joseph Joseph chopping boards that I bought before they became trendy. They are different colours for different uses, slot together neatly and are so handy, especially for the kids.

I love my granite worktops, the built in appliances behind doors so everything looks neat, the induction hob (although I had to buy new pans) and the extraction hood! I don't like that its a smaller kitchen though, and also there aren't enough wide and deep cupboards to put things in.

I regret having a larder type fridge freezer, its a bit big for the room. Still, i'm stuck with it now until it breaks down.

I really wish i'd had what I went for and that was a bog standard half and half fridge/freezer.
