I hate my pull out larder unit. I hate the built in waste-of-space wine rack. I hate that they left part of the supporting wall in as its a magnet for all sorts of cr6p. I hate the floor tiles, the wall tiles, and the shaker doors. I hate the cupboards in the corners and the ones above and below the ovens. I hate the pipe work in the cupboard under the sink. I hate the laminate worktop.

I can't believe I've lived with it for 8 years. With interest rates being so low I can't really justify not changing it now.

I hate everything about my kitchen. It's over 15 years old and is well shabby now. I'm currently saving up to get a new one but it will be a while yet.
Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free :)

Like: Layout of cupboards, Dishwasher and Espresso Machine.

Dislike: The fact that its open plan with my Lounge.
The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.
  • I hate mine with a passion. We live in a shared maisonette as part of discounted (ha) work accommodation with an idiot who thinks he owns the place. Its not perfect by any means. The layout is badly designed and caused many complaints by us to the landlord over them not giving us 50/50 share.

Appliance wise, the electric cooker with overhead grill is a disaster. Trying to get pans under is a nightmare, I normally end up catching the grill tray. Also its so ancient all the blackened on cr&p comes off barely touching it and thus falling into whatever is underneath.

The fridge freezer is fine apart from the draws, they pull out toooo easily and we have cracked the front a few times! I like the fact it has glass shelves - if anything leaks its trapped! And nothing slips through the gaps.

However in previous times, I had a nice kitchen. Gloss white cupboards set against moroccan pink paint and black accessories, it was gorgeous! We had deep pan draws, well spaced cupboards with sensible gaps between shelves to allow better storage and built right up to ceiling so no dust traps!

Friends have smooth closing draws, are great! They have a glass cabinet as part of the cupboards with little lights in which looks pretty against her wine glasses.
I love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D

Trying to find a work life balance...:rotfl:

Might be worth checking out this thread from not too long ago for ideas about people's wish lists.

Our cupboard doors are gloss so I am constantly polishing finger prints off them.

I can't really think about what I like, its a standard new build kitchen so quite naff, being a two bed flat its quite small, it has a fake drawer under the sink, I really hate that.
  • I love that theres room for a table to eat at and for the kids to play etc while im in there.
I hate the wine rack we don't use. I hate the sticky vinyl squares on the floor. I hate that it has a lot of those corner shelves for displaying stuff. they just end up cluttered and get dirty and greasy QUICKLY
  • Love the size of my kitchen/diner and that's about it. It's a HA property so have to have what we're given. We had a new kitchen fitted about 18 months ago and although we have more cupboards we seem to have less space somehow.

I had a really useful hanging rack for my saucepans that my OH made me and that had to come down as they took out my breakfast bar and it hung over that. It can't go anywhere else now as people would bang their heads on it.

Also, they put the sink unit back where I wanted it under the window but the sink is a lot smaller than I had and the mixer tap annoys me!

And laughed at by the gods
    And now the final frame
    Love is a losing game

I love my glass splashback. Only a few hundred quid as I had it done by a local glass company and they painted the back for me and installed it. People comment on it much more often than my expensive cupboards!

I love the built in wine rack, and my granite benchtop - although I hate how quickly it shows up marks. And I totally love my inline induction hob - that I had to get as a normal square wouldn't fit. HAD to get. ;)

And finally - the two black stools we got from ebay for £40. Bargain!

I love your glass splasbacks too. My sister (who sells kitchens) told me they were the next trendy thing just after id had my new kitchen tiled.
Id love the pale greeny blue coke bottle glass coloured ones.

I love that my kitchen and lounge are open plan, so I can see what the kids are up to when I'm cooking. I love the amount of plug sockets in the kitchen (to this day I've never had the need to use all 14 at once). I love my tiled floor, spills and droppages are easy cleaned up.

I hate the fact that my front door leads straight into the kitchen - it's the most used, hence messiest, room in the house. I hate the tiled floor as anything dropped on it smashes straight away, including plastic.
I hate the little shelves at the side of the wall units, they collect clutter and dust and grease, and I spend half my life cleaning them. Also the gap between the wall units and the ceiling, it's another crap magnet!

And worst of all is the skeleton hanging from the corner of the kitchen. Don't. It's a great educational tool, and is loads of fun now that we've painted it with luminous paint so it terrifies everyone who looks through the window at night, but I'm sick of hitting my head on the flaming thing. He's had an amputation at the hips now, but will need to be moved soon before I lose my rag with him!
