What's with the cushions?

Some people just like nice things, I guess. I'm a visual person, pretty creative - I like things to look pleasing. I like to walk into rooms in my house and enjoy them- that includes the bedroom. I'm cushionless at the moment in my bedroom just because I am very particular and can't find what I like but when I do they will be stacked up on my bed and placed at the correct angles
I guess we're all different. I like a house with soul, I like to visit houses with soul. I have a friend who has words on the wall and co-ordinating nik naks and she's ultra houseproud and I love going into her home, because it's warm and inviting and cheerful.
I hate all this bit**ing about tastes, I've seen it here before and found it distasteful then. You don't know who's reading and who might be offended by it.0 -
Thanks all for your input. I too like my house to look nice. I just didn't see why the cushions, nor what you were supposed to do with them when you went to bed!
I quite agree that people must do as they please in their own home.
I like candles and have loads.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

Looking for holiday ideas for 2016. Currently, Isle of Skye in March, Riga in May, Crete in June and Lake District in October. August cruise cancelled, but Baby due September 2016! :j0 -
Hi, in my bedroom ive kept the bedding plain white, and then every couple of months I changed the pillowcases, throws and cushions to different colours. Spring I have lovely pale green throws etc, summer a bright turquoise blue, autumn a dusky blue/grey but my favourite is the winter one which is a white fur throw with covers the whole bed and goes down to the floor which has gold accessories etc.
The white bedding then goes with all the others and I don't have to keep buying new sheets, duvet covers etc.
I use the coloured pillowcases just for show and sleep on the white ones. But then there is only me here and I Starfish :rotfl:as theres no room for anyone else :rotfl:0 -
Funny, I hate clutter, but I like cushions & throws , but plump nice quality cushions that you can actually use & big heavy plush throws that stay in place & dont slip about.
My ornaments are big lumps of carved wood.
I like your throw and your colour scheme. When I was working on the interiors mag we featured someone's bedroom that was like yours only more so (much more so, it had layers and layers of colours in the deep pink/red/brown spectrum and a sunken bath in the room!) It became the gold standard of bedrooms for my colleague and myself because it just looked so passionate and sensual!
I remember reading once that the further you went down the pink/red spectrum in a bedroom the more passionate you were so, by that yardstick, your bed (in it's white room) is saying 'look at me, folks, this is where it's all goin' on'

In further mumbo jumbo I've also read that adults with a teddy on the bed are broody as the teddy is a surrogate child so maybe cushions are an extension of that (or people have read too many homes mags.) :rotfl:Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

I've just remembered that we have a framed poster of DH and myself on the bedroom wall that I made for him for our first Christmas

It's not as bad as it sounds, it's made from a freak shot I took of us bleached out in photoshop so it looks very arty and then the poster is divided into 9 sections each with that pic and then there are letters in each square (DH's then stage name) which obliterate us in some squares and then we're in the letters in the otehrs. There's a bit of purple leopard print going on in behind some of the letters too

Am I weird?
I took down all the photo's of my grandchildren when I caught one DIL counting how many there were of each!!! They are all stored on the computer so I can look at them anytime. I now have one photo on display on my mom (no longer with us) and my daughter has sneaked up a photo of her riding but I think it's mainly for the horse!Slightly bitter0 -
I can't bear ruddy twigs in vases and can't see the point of them but don't expect anyone to care either way about how I feel about their choice in furnishings.0

i have pic of my bf (which he got me for our first xmas), one of me and my siblings (that says I
Mty Sister-they got me it for my 21st) and one of me and my parents on my graduation.
And i have a few cushions on the bed. When its just me here i sleep with all 4 pillows, but when bf is here he has 2 so the cushions make up the shortfall
