    Good point,

    Urmmm ....

will put my thinking cap on :rotfl:

I was surprised about needing to take on three boards  would of thought it better to only have one board to concentrate on & know about then surely it would be better BGed?

seems as the comps board is the most fast moving one & needs constant amending/merges/SP reports etc
I agree what luckyone says above,
would it not be better to have one BG to concentrate just on the comps board & be around majority of the time.

I think 'constant' is pushing it a bit. And as Glad has said she receives about 40 PMs per day and that hasn't changed much over time (and she's BG'ing 3 boards) I think it might be overkill to have one BG concentrating solely on one board.
But perhaps a BG will say I'm wrong ...

    So are other boards.
I think it's easier on the comp board because it's easy to see which threads are against the rules (written or otherwise). But on other boards you need to read the posts and take educated guesses and do some more digging (like on freebies - is this still a freebie? is it for the UK? is it a con? etc)

If no one can stop people creating wrongly titled threads, posting in the wrong area, posting comps that are self promotion etc, how on earth can anyone stop people posting links when they think they are being helpful?

Sorry to be a pessimist, but this is an open forum, you can't control what people do - and really it's not the end of the world if a link is posted and a new comp is posted wrongly, is it? I reckon about 98% of the threads are correct, the wrong ones may be annoying but c'est la vie :)

We may just have to accept that the few who aren't aware it's best not to post the link in the 2nd post, until it's end dated and titled properly, will probably do it, but the rest of us make an effort to try out the suggestion.

If a few start posting about the correct title and not posting the link it might take off. After all I had no idea what to do about duplicate postings so you look to see what other people do. It could be a snowball effect; a few to start with but then it gets to be common practice.

Like requesting merges or reporting self promotion; if you do it and post what you have done people will copy. I know I did.

actually the Comps board is one of the least stressful boards, mostly all the BGs need to do is move expired comps to GO and merge dupes and we don't even have to go looking for them you find them and let us know :D
there are very rarely contentious threads here so unlike on other boards we don't have to read through threads checking for abuse and keeping them on topic etc or check for threads on wrong boards, or newbies that need real help being pointed in the right direction, or pointing users to the site guides/main site articles etc etc
even if you don't have a massive interest in the topic of a board you do have to be familiar with ongoing threads and the guides that go with it

and if you take an overall view of the MSE forums, merging a duplicate comp thread may at times not be as urgent a 'job' as reporting a conflict in a thread or spotting that someone has been given the wrong information and trying to point them to a guide that may help

what I'm trying to say is BGs generally have a variety of boards to look after and as the site is only going to grow it's only fair that any new BG takes on more than one board

hope all that made sense :)

I agree :) as I tried to say above 99% of threads on here are straightforward comps and never need to be looked at

makes sense, so realy all the bg's job on comps board is
generally moving comps to go & merging dupes like you say as long as the members send you them it's straightforward enough :)
I always thought it was more stressful than the other boards so apologise.

Arh so it's one of the less stressful boards because we do most of the work :rotfl:

We link the daily/weekly/once only comps to the correct sections so you can copy & paste

We search for links, ask people to amend wrong titles & try & suss out self promotion & if we find it make the report our self. We also find the dupe comps & send pm's to BG's so they can be merged as well as find comps gone to game over fish them out with the right info for you to correct the info & put them back on the board

Blimey I want to be a BG so I get a rest! :rotfl:

This is what I was actually meaning when I said it would be better for each board to have BG's that only BG for that board, so when the BG's have time to come online & do some BGing, they could watch the comp boards, watch the comps being listed & correct the titles, do the merges there & then them self, make the self promotion reports them self I.E easy to spot ones which are most of them & leave the not so sure ones to others, put the links into the correct place, daily's, weekly's, once only's them self
