I would like to ask a question and hope I do not offend, as that is not my intention, but, why does there always seem to be one issue or another raising up?

Surely, the purpose of the competition board is to enter competitions, not get wound up with minutiae.

If a competition isn't titled correctly, it's moved to game over and people could possibly dupe but, is it the end of the world if it's not done using the preferred format?

If the first post doesn't have the link but the second does, is that such a bad thing? The link is there, so people can enter.

If it's self promotion, all one needs to do is report and move on and posters can then choose whether or not to enter. All competitions are posted one way or another.

If it's a site that cannot be trusted, post a warning, report, move on. Posters are then able to decide whether or not they still wish to enter that competition, whilst it is still on the board.

Above all, enjoy entering competitions as, surely, that's what we are here to do.

I can appreciate that my thoughts are possibly in the minority and, as I said, I hope I have not offended anyone, they are just thoughts I have had for a while as I see posters becoming wound up by things which, in the great scheme of things, don't really hold any importance.
Dear Lord, I am calling upon you today for your divine guidance and help. I am in crisis and need a supporting hand to keep me on the right and just path. My mind is troubled but I will strive to keep it set on you, as your infinite wisdom will show me the way to a just and right resolution. Amen.

Actually it's basically what I said back at the beginning just outlining what to do in different circumstances.

Looking to help the board run smoothly.

Thought this thread was running in a much more "civilized" fashion than some as nobody has gone off crying yet.

Edit It's not really about having issues it's more about communication.

You haven't offended me, & please don't take offence to what I am going to say either

But that's your choice. If you don't want to talk about the comping guide, BG's, or if there is a way to improve the system that we all use then don't read about it.

    Move on

But this is a forum & people will talk to each other in the compers chat corner

I'm not offended and I get that people talk to each other but it's more than just that, from what I have seen.

There are other things as well, although not pertinent to what has been raised so I didn't comment on those, however, I see people getting worked up.

With regards moving on, that suggests that the only comments wanted are those that agree. Surely, if it's about people talking to each other then there is no need to 'move on' because someone has a different opinion.

I don't understand what you mean by:

    What other things? :o

I used the words move on because they are the words you used in your post, do something then move on so I thought if you don't want to read about things that come up then move on, it was not implying that you should not say what you want to in any thread, more if it does not interest you then move onto something else

No indeed there is no need to move on if you want to contribute join in :)

I started the thread because I noticed a pattern in postings and wondered if there was a way to help the board flow better for want of a better term.

As ever with conversations the thread has drifted onto other topics although still related to the comping board but I thought people were still being nice to each other and I haven't noticed anybody getting worked up. Was that in this thread on on the comping chat in general?

At what point in my post did I say I did not want to read something? I simply gave an alternative viewpoint based on things I have seen going on.

Report a thread and move on.

    Don't read. Move on.

    Hmm.

Perhaps I took the written word in the wrong context, but to me if someone is asking why questions keep coming up, that leave's me thinking you don't want them to keep coming up, other wise why write it?

    Hmm.

If you don't mind me saying so you did perhaps give the impression of being ever so slightly grumpy in your first post with the whole why are we discussing comping thing.

The points you mentioned were great; thanks for your contribution.

I think what Luckyone was trying to say (please fell free to correct me if I'm wrong) if you don't want to chat about comping then you need only refrain from venturing into the chat board and stick to the main board.

Not that any contribution you would like to make isn't welcome.:)

    Tea anyone?
